It will be a no spends day today.
Breakfast, lunch and dinner will be from stores. Breakfast was cereals, the other half has taken his packed lunch to work, I am having a jacket potato and cheese for my lunch and dinner tonight is fish pie with a sweet potato and parsnip mash topping with vegetables.
Todays jobs include:- working from home
- load of washing
- walking the dog x 2 (not looking forward to this today, the weather is rubbish)

Don’t know how you do it tbh just staying chilled about life lol.
Reducing mortgage term not what I’d do but your life. Once that rate is sorted 100 res home mortgage cheapest finance you’ll ever get.1 -
It maybe is the cheapest finance we will ever get but also it is the biggest monthly expense we will ever have as well. I would much rather have the £1200 a month in my pocket to spend than be giving it to the bank. Can't wait to get that final mortgage payment paid off and the home owned outright.alt80 said:Don’t know how you do it tbh just staying chilled about life lol.

We don't have a lot to get stressed out about. We are pretty comfortable with life and fortunately our debts are now manageable. They have not been in the past and we were more stressed about them then. I don't know when the turning point was to be fair. The major turning point was probably before I discovered this forum but writing this diary has helped to give a sense of accountability to the situation but also to give a sense of perspective and to realise that although our situation isn't the best it is also far from the worst.6 -
Interesting perspective can see where you’re coming from. Your res payment similar to mine.Mate your situation doesn’t seem that bad at all can’t believe I’m saying that reading the first post with the adverse but you’re not the one getting angry with your OH going on the chang and dealing on a unit you can’t really afford lol.3

I think you've got the right attitude sheff - a good balance between paying off debt and still having a life. I wish the site/forums had been around when I was younger and a bit all over the place with budgeting. Still better late than never. A diary certainly keeps you accountable and you can pick up some great ideas from other diaries - then you've got alt's diary which is never boring 😆I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)5

@Sun_Addict bit of boredom is what I need in my life I think lol. Half stick around in the hope I’ll start getting off on going for a walk and living on toast by virtual osmosis or something.Different note can’t drive through NG4 without feeling !!!!!! paranoid that some woman is going to flag me down and ask how the debt life is going lol.4

I too think you are doing the right thing in reducing the mortgage term. The sooner it is gone the sooner that £1200 is yours rather than the banks and you won't miss the extra money from the reduced rate as you never had it. We did that throughout our mortgage term. When we moved we did not extend our term like many friends did every time and as mortgage rates went down we left the payments the same and got rid of it asap. We could have got rid of it sooner but chose to help our daughters and start investing/overpaying pensions too and some big holidays/home improvements. It is all about balance.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Debt free Wannabe, Budgeting and Banking and Savings and Investment boards.
