Just got a message from the surveyors. They are coming to do the valuation tomorrow morning between 8 and 10am. Will have just enough time to run the vacuum cleaner round and have a quick fettle.

I have got to wear a face covering, open all windows and internal doors and go outside with the dog. Fingers crossed the weather is dry in the morning then!

You’re still not selling the van life to me.

A surveying firm messaging you at this time and potential 8am appointment FML must be one of the big corporate firms. Tbh if you do all that you’ll be in the minority by quite some margin from my experience. Tbf I do a lot more commercial but of the res work I do I can count on one hand how many times someone has actually done everything set out in the guidelines. 100 they won’t have if its a HMO or a rough tenanted block of flats in smackheadville - probably more likely to catch corona tbh lucky if they’re out of bed haha never mind opening windows and chocking doors. Don’t really get involved in the type of straightforward purchase/ remo work that the big corporates do - the fees are !!!!!! but in these times it’s probably safer lol.

That was quick! When we remortgaged they just did a drive by valuation, didn’t even know they’d been. Hope the weather is fine for you.

    Good Morning everyone.

It has been a busy morning so far getting ready for the valuation. The neighbours must think we have gone mad. I was running the vacuum round at 6am and cleaning the bathrooms at 6.30am and having a quick wipe around in the kitchen. Now sat with all the lights on in the house, every internal door open and the windows open  :D

Hoping to get a phone call soon to say that he is on his way.

@Alt80 it is E Surv who are coming this morning. To be honest I'm surprised they want to do a physical valuation on a 2 year old house. You would have thought it was a prime candidate for a desktop, but I'm sure they have their reasons.

    Todays jobs include:
    • working from home
    • cleaning already done
    • vacating the house for the surveyor
    • walking the dog x 2
Almost forgot. It will be a no spends day today. Breakfast, lunch and dinner will be from stores. It was toast for breakfast, the other half has taken his packed lunch to work, I am having vegetable rice for my lunch and dinner tonight is faggots with mustard mash and vegetables.

And £200 has been paid off card 3.

We were not expecting them to fit the valuation in so soon. We were fully expecting it to be weeks. Reading through the mortgages board everyone seems to be complaining about backlogs. We seem to have jumped the queue somehow!

You’re not the only one surprised mate I’m booked until mid February for valuation work. As I say though different type of work really but doing a lot of Res atm just not new build fussing around with a vacuum at 6am !!!!!! fee type res haha. How last minute it all is I wouldn’t be surprised if they’ve just slotted you in - easy job and those big firms need to pack them in.

That's credit card 2 nearly done. Hope the surveyor arrives nice and early and is quick so you're not freezing outside for too long.

The surveyor has just been. He seemed like a nice chap. Was here for the whole of 10 minutes. He couldn't understand why they had sent him out to view this one either. He says he will have his report back to the lenders this afternoon so it is a waiting game now.

Must be a surveyor thing having nice cars. He turned up in a lovely AMG Merc.

Time to get this house warmed up again now.  Just gone round and shut all the windows and turned the heating up. At least the house has had a good thorough airing this morning :D
