Quite understandably the talk of the pub last night was the closure of Wilko's. It was a hot topic.

On the way home we saw a few of their lorries heading out  which isn't unusual in itself, however the trailers had already been debranded. They were the familiar deep red but the Wilko branding was gone, you could see the shadows where it had been. Quite sad really.

The food in the pub was good last night which is unusual when it is busy.

Breakfast, lunch and dinner are from stores today. It was crumpets for breakfast, we have both taken our packed lunches to work and dinner tonight is pizza and chips and a few beers on the sofa watching a couple of films.

No jobs to do today other than walking the dog. It's a Friday chill day.

The neighbours are back off their holidays today as well so the other half has done the last of his rabbit watching duties this morning. It survived!!

Blimey. They were quick to debrand the lorries.

A weekend at home this weekend for a change.

We have taken the dog for a good walk in the woods. He enjoyed that and we are now at the local pub for a BOGOF breakfast. Can't really complain at £10 for two full English with toast, coffee and orange juice.

Busy day today. The other half is fitting a rear view camera to the van and I'm sorting the gardens out.  Got a load of washing in ready to stick on the line when we get back home. Need to go to the farm shop at some point as well.

Hoping to get a bbq in later if the weather allows. Mixed grill if not 😀

We sat out in the farmers field for an hour last night and watched the meteor shower. Something we have never done and it was brilliant. The dog thought we had gone mad 🤣🤣🤣

A much quieter day for us today. Not got much planned. We will take the dog for a good walk somewhere local.

Breakfast this morning is a full English and dinner later is slow cooked beef with Yorkshire pudding, roasted potatoes, parsnip and swede and greens.

Got a load of washing to get washed and hung out to dry today. Not much else though. Oh. We must go and put some diesel in the car. Its running a bit low.

I forgot all about the meteor shower. It said on the news we’d have a good view in the Midlands.

In the hour we were out we saw loads of them. It was starting to cloud over though when we came home.

We have something similar round the pond. Mr SA brought it back from a building site years ago. I wasn’t keen at first but it grew on me 😆

We found him at the garden centre a few weeks ago but decided to go home and see if we could find him cheaper anywhere else or online.

Turns out the cheapest place we could find him was the garden centre we went too in the first place so we decided to get him today.

The other half has decided his name is Rod because he reminds him of Rod Stewart 🤣🤣🤣

Back to work again. It's a short week for us though. We have Friday off work this week to go to a festival in the Peak District.

Breakfast, lunch and dinner will be from stores today. Breakfast was porridge, we have both taken our packed lunches to work and dinner tonight is some mince in the leftover ale gravy from yesterday's roast served in a giant Yorkshire pudding with root veg mash and greens.

    Tonight's jobs are:
    • walking the dog
    • weekly shop
The weather is a bit grim this morning. Glad we got the gardens done at the weekend when we had the chance. We must remember to put some more weed and feed on the lawns before we go away to France. In hindsight we should have done it yesterday. This weather would have been ideal for watering it in!
