It's a bit grim here today, but I've checked the forecast and it's going to brighten this afternoon/evening so it should be nice for a walk then
Menu for today looks good, despite 'no meat' lol... I had the last of our crumpets yesterday.

Aiming for a low spends day today. I'm going to Aldi to get a few bits but that's it.
Breakfast is duck egg and soldiers and dinner later is slow cooked lamb jalfrezi with pilau rice, garlic and coriander chapati and vegetable samosa.
We are spending the day tidying up the gardens a bit today. Need to do some weeding and get the grass cut.
We will take the dog out as well. Not sure where yet. Might go up to the golf course. Not been up there for a while.3 -
I think we will definitely start doing at least a couple of weekly shops a month in Aldi. The price difference for a weekly shop was quite marked. £45 spent and only a couple of items I didn't manage to pick up.
The front and back gardens are now weeded, mown and generally tidied up they look a lot better.
Just taken the dog for a decent walk at the golf course. He really enjoyed it. It was surprisingly quiet up there.
Just got home and stuck the van bedding in the wash. It's a blowy sunny day so it will dry on the line in no time.
Dinner is smelling nice in the slow cooker. Looking forward to that later.2 -
We tend to alternate T’s and Al’s these days - there are bits I prefer from T’s but Al’s is invaluable for storecupboard items - bread flour and other baking items, tins, and some jarred stuff too. Their fruit and veg is mostly pretty decent, and we prefer their own brand yogurts over T’s for the most part. There is a definite saving too - particularly now that the major supermarkets have played right into their hands by price matching - which means we’re seeing prices held at Al’s on a good many things whereas they would likely otherwise have increased. I suspect they are enjoying knowing that T’s will be feeling the strain more than they are!🎉 MORTGAGE FREE (First time!) 30/09/2016 🎉 And now we go again…New mortgage taken 01/09/23 🏡

I shop around. There are certain things I like that can only be found in one shop, then another shop is cheaper for something else and so on. I love a rummage around Aldi, great quality for the price too.I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)0

It is a no spends day today. We are both too hungover to consider even getting into the car to spend anything 🤣🤣🤣
We had a surprise visit from the neighbours over the road and ended up drinking far too much last night.
The other half managed breakfast this morning. I couldn't face any. Still not eaten anything today. I will wait until we gave roast chicken dinner later I think.
The other half has managed to fix the dripping kitchen tap this afternoon. Not sure what was wrong with it. He has disassembled it, cleaned everything and put it back together again and it's stopped dripping so a free fix which is always good.
We have a load of bedding on the line drying. Should be nearly dry now.
I was going to vacuum out the van today buy that can wait until one evening in the week now.
We took the dog for a local walk today. We forget we have some nice walks from our doorstep sometimes.
The dog is now asleep on his rug keeping me company in the living room. I might consider peeling myself off the sofa soon and prepping dinner.3 -

Just got our first energy bill using the new rates and even though it is a part month at the new rates it is still a big bill compared to our previous bills. It will take a bit of getting used to these new bigger bills.
They have not changed my direct debit amount yet so I think I will make an extra payment to the account next month because the credit we currently have on the account is going to be used up very quickly at this rate.
On the plus side we are using less electric. Our annual estimate for electric use has come down from 3300kwh to 2670kwh just by making a few minor changes. Gas is around 6000kwh which it stays pretty static at.1
