I have just checked and it does seem that as I am fully vaccinated I can take the dog out which is good for him.

I have sent my boss an email to let him know the other half has tested positive. I am supposed to be back in the office nextw eek but that will probably get moved back another week or so depending on when/if I test positive.

If you can keep the house well ventilated it will reduce your chances of catching it.
Ideally OH should be isolating in a room/s to reduce the chances of passing it on.
If you do catch it neither of you will be able to walk the dog do you have plans how to keep him exercised and entertained whilst restricted to home and potentially you both feeling rough?

The neighbours have said they will take him but we want that to be a last resort really. Not fair to put them at risk.

Luckily we have a garden for him to run and play in and he is one for learning tricks so we can occupy him with a few new tricks to learn. And we have several games he will play with his many toys.

He will be fine if we both have to isolate.

To be honest we have said that if he has it we may as well both get it now and get it out of the way. No point stretching it out so he isn't isolating in one room. I would rather get it now and get it out of the way and then we can carry on with our plans for the year. As it stands the plans we had for this weekend and next can be easily rearranged.
  • Great to hear you have considered the dog's needs, how lovely of the neighbours to offer to take him out if necessary which will be a weight off your shoulders. That is very sensible to only take them up on the offer as a last resort to greatly reduce them catching it.

Yep - if the worse happens the dog will be fine. I do wonder how the folk with no garden and without good neighbours who've got dogs during the lockdowns have planned to deal with the eventuality of all in the house needing to isolate at the same time, though!

Have you got a decent stock of LFT's in the house? You're going to need 7 for the next week and then he'll want a couple for days 6 and 7...potentially more in the day 6 one is still showing positive and with the supply/ mailing issues with them it might be a good idea to get more ordered when you can if you think there is any chance of risking running low.

Hopefully he'll be fine and you'll stay clear of it - it really does seem to be picking and choosing who gets it as it's by far from certain that others in the same house are succumbing despite how infectious the omicron variant is meant to be!

At least it gives you another week of WFH I guess...!

We have plenty of LFT's in the house but have ordered another box in case he starts testing positive after Day 6 and 7.

The doctors have been brilliant. He is due an order of his medication which is usually sent to a pharmacy in Sheffield. They are instead issuing it to the pharmacy next door to the surgery who are going to deliver it for him tomorrow.

The dog is currently loving the extra  attention today and is cuddling up with his dad on the sofa watching TV :)
