£393 paid to the van HP loan today. Feel better for having made a payment to that loan now. Always feels odd at the start of a new loan when you have the goods but have not made the first payment yet. Well I suppose we had really as we had paid the £28k deposit.

Not a no spends day today. The other half is just nipping to the timber merchants after work to get the wood for the shelves in the van. They are going to cut it to size for him as well which will save him a job on Saturday.

Breakfast, lunch and dinner will be from stores though. Cereals for breakfast, the other half has taken his packed lunch to work, jacket potato and tuna for my lunch and dinner tonight is haggis, neaps and tatties.

    Today's jobs include:
    • working from home
    • cleaning the bathrooms
    • load of washing (probably dried in the dry today looking at the weather forecast)
    • walking the dog x 2
I decided to have a go at making some home made onion bahji's yesterday after work. We have decided to cook a home made curry on Saturday night when the neighbours come round and thought it would be nice to do homemade bahji's to go with it. They taste amazing. Ended up having to make two batches because we ate so many of the first batch :)

What do you do with the dog when you're both working out of the house?
He sounds like he wouldn't be best pleased at home by himself for very long.

When I'm not working from home he goes to work with the other half and sits in the office with the receptionist. He likes that because he is with people all day and meeting and greeting the customers. The odd time I have been into work the last year he has come with me into the office.

He does very occasionally get left at home alone but never for more than a couple of hours at a time.
That's great you can both take him with you - he really has it made with you even if he is in the naughty corner at the moment

He was very much in the naughty corner yesterday. He seems a bit more relaxed and himself this morning. Perhaps the good run last night let him release a lot of pent up energy. Think we are going to give him a good run again tonight after work. We did suddenly realise last night while he was playing with his ball that while he has been doing a lot of lead walking recently he hasn't really had a lot of chance to run off lead and burn some energy off.

I know what you mean about the new loan had that with cars too. Most weird for me though is when I’ve kept ones after they are fully paid for- feels like I’m going to wind up with the repo man turning up to my house, no payments going out is a strange concept for me haha.

Our dog isn’t happy unless she’s had a good run off lead. How did you make your bhajis? I’ve made them before a few years ago and managed to get turmeric all over a white top, no amount of washing got the yellow out 😆
I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)

Grated potato, finely chopped red onion, loads of curry powder, turmeric and garam massala mixed up together in a bowl with some flour until it was a sticky batter. No added water needed as the water from the potatoes and onions held it together.

I was going to air fry them but decided that the mixture wouldn't stick together in there so I ended up pan frying them in some veggie oil in the wok. Turning them over every couple of minutes until they were browned.

Somehow didn't manage to get any turmeric down myself or on the worktops :)

The batch for the weekend are now in the freezer. I will get them out on Saturday morning and just air fry them for a few minutes before serving them hot on Saturday evening.

I usually oven bake my bharjis at 200 for about 15-20 minutes.  Can quite easily eat them on their own as a snack!

Thanks for the recipe will give them a go. Sounds similar to the recipe I made. I remember using gram flour for mine.
