We are still awaiting application submitted 3rd , passed all checks we were told . Had to wait for physical valuation on 27th , still no news on that but both my partner and i have had another soft search on the 31st done . Thinking that may be last check to see we are the same as mid August.
MA said she was hoping to hear today , but still no word from her .
Im stressing now as i really need to move on 18th or i may lose our buyer .
  • With mine the seller wouldn’t agree the property at the valuation price so found something else may be fate as was looking for a certain area and just got accepted on new offer I was told my my broker he will keep my Santander application and give new property details however this works.. also they requested now almost two weeks after valuation a letter from employer about furlong and want to know dates I started my jobs and hours I work although they have had payslips before it’s crazy feel like back to square one.

Application went in 26/08 and valuation isn't happening until 23/9 so a long wait! Although they must be looking at stuff because they asked for a document to be resent that didn't have the date filled in so broker re uploaded it. Broker says ours is going through quite quickly and we'll be fine,  wish I had her confidence!

My application went in 18/08 and I've heard nothing about a valuation.  Mine's been with UW since Tuesday last week.  According to the Santander portal (went direct), it says the valuation is carried out after UW decision but it seems most on here have had a valuation booked/carried out prior to such approval.  When you look at the whole thing across the board it just looks like a completely unstructured process.

Agree Peter, no regular structure to the way things are done it seems.
My broker said valuation first, nothing will happen until that's done.

Update from broker: Santander have formally agreed our mortgage subject to review of the valuation report, this is the very last stage of the process (our valuation took place on 18th August). Hopefully the valuation report is fine (We are buying a new build house at its 2019 release price, the same house style on the development is selling for £20k more at present) and we can get the full offer next week sometime.

It would seem every application is going through a slightly different process, so it’s tough gauging anything from the timeline of others. Anyway, thanks for sharing your experiences on the forum, knowing I wasn’t the only one going through the longest mortgage application ever really helped.

This feels like the longest application ever and it's only been 2 weeks!
I think it's because my first 2 mortgages were on my own (without a pandemic!) so not really a worry but this one's with my self employed partner and for a lot more so I'm stressing! It's annoying because looking at my bank statements I can afford the extra payment on my own but as my broker said,  sadly it doesn't work like that!
    Keeping fingers crossed.
