I could be wrong but I believe GSP deals with customs charges and clearance as well, so the buyer pays the GSP fee and nothing further. At least, that's how I understood it when I've considered items from abroad sent via the GSP, anyway.

Plus for the seller there is no comeback as long as they safely get it to their national hub, because eBay take on the responsibility for the package after that. I guess part of the price (that the buyer pays) goes towards an insurance of sorts with eBay itself.
Yes that’s right, the figure the buyer pays includes everything. So a definite gain for the seller who isn’t faced with silly buyers Refusing to pay import duty.

but it is NOT THE SELLER WHO GAINS!

Sellers can gain though. You may have an item that you don't want to sell outside the UK for various reasons.
GSP may bring in more buyers where GSP takes some of the damaged in transit risks so you don't have to.

That buyer would not have purchased your items if it was not for the GSP option.

Exactly, I don’t ship aboard at the moment, I’ve had far too many problems. One of my items has gone to Italy to a buyer that has several feedback left for others, positives, that translate as thanks for refund, sorry item didn’t arrive type of thing. I win as I sell my item for a great deal more than I would have done, buyer wins as he gets an item he couldn’t otherwise have bought.

  • Just in case anyone's wondering how it went when my buyer found out how little money would be taken off for combined postage she didn't want it any more!!!!!!
