Green Flag or AA?

My AA renewal is due £145, contacted them and this is the best they can do, Green Flag is half that price.
What are Green Flag like? I know they do not have their own fleet of mechanics like the AA and RAC do.

I'd recommend Auto Aid, costs £62 to cover me and him in any car. Have had reason to use it on 2 cars, very efficient, they call a local bod who's on call, who takes you where you want to go.

Green Flag use local garages /breakdown services. We have found response excellent but that may depend on your locality.
  • Depends if AA are worth double the price i guess. Or go with RAC and use cashback.

    Hi Op
I recall reading something about breakdown orgs a few years ago and if i recall correctly then Greenflag was very good especially at the lower prices but the AA dealt with bigger problsm better and got you back on the road where as most of the others and there are many now towed you to a garge.

I recommed you look up a review site and then decide if it is worth paying more.  Years ago, our daughters first car a Fiesta, less than a year old gear would not engage, the first time it happend, the AA guy fixed it on the drive not sure what it was, it happened again the second time but car was towed - something was loose - so just goes to show no mater who you chose at times its the person that turns up that counts

AA and RAC also use contractors, if their fleet isn't available.
GF do have some of their own branded fleet.

But, especially when you're off the beaten track (I don't think I've ever seen a liveried AA or RAC van round here), it's safest to assume you're going to get the same contractor whoever your policy is actually through - and they're unlikely to prioritise certain networks over others, just deal with them in the order they come in.

I have been with Start Rescue for the past 2 or 3 years.  They were good on the one time I needed them - Easter Sunday 2019.

Green Flag's use of local garages / breakdown services may vary across the UK. I know for certain, that a few years ago in the north west of England, Green Flag did away with local agents and started to use Egerton's Recovery based in Mobberley, Cheshire. Egerton's are are a large company who specialise in all types of recovery. I am not sure if Green Flag still use them or not.
