Signed.  I can't believe it was classed as cosmetic!

The lost VAT can come from higher taxes on the wealthy, and from actually recouping the taxes evaded and avoided by the well to do and businesses.
Yes lets increase the tax burden on the highest 1% who already pay 30% of collected income tax in this country so they get fed up and leave. Who then will pick up the lost tax revenue. Sun screen is cheap to buy, don't see the need for it to be tax exempt so I can save all of 10p. There are more important things to worry about in life at the moment.
Where are you getting sun tan lotion for less than a pound? If tax is 10p on a bottle that's very cheap. It's more like £2 VAT per bottle. If you're gonna complain about taxes at least be realistic!

With the massive increase in spending recently by the government due to furlough and EOTHO etc i think it should be going the other way and items that are currently VAT exempt should be charged VAT of 5% starting from a suitable time next year to recoup some of that money.

Sorry ok with the average cost of sun tan lotion at around a fiver the vat element is 83p so still not a fortune, the point is its a tiny amount and I wasn't complaining about taxes but more pointing out someone elses post saying to tax the rich more. There are more important thing in life to worry over that a few pence of vat on sun tan lotion
