Just checked, and indeed, it does not. Just a series of random gibberish. Does that potentially make a difference?"Castle said:yes .... so the machine accepts unreal VRM's ... but we knew that already

But no, the xxx on my ticket was bizarrely taken by you, to be a registration number! It would have been very helpful if you could have clarified that in my original appeal rather than sending me many paragraphs of waffle that is irrelevant to this individual case. Clearly, and on the balance of probabilities (sufficient to satisfy a Judge at any competent court), I did not key in that series of digits.

Thanks once again everyone. True to form, we've just received the latest letter from Britannia demanding £100 and that it will go up to £160 unless paid within 28 days. I have 3 questions:
1) If we decide not to pay the fine and fight it, do we notify Britannia of our intentions and explain why, as per my drafted letter above? Or do you literally just ignore the letter and just sit back and wait for the flood of threats?
2) Regarding the Britannia Group/Services / Landowner revelation - I've been reading through that thread that Coupon-Mad kindly flagged. I can't ascertain whether this issue is specific to a single car park, or affects all Britannia-managed car parks? Can anyone clarify? I presume it's the latter.
3) If this went all the way to court and we lost, how much can you expect to have to pay out?
Many thanks!

1. Do not ignore. Your Judge will want to see you engaged with the scumbags and tried to resolve the dispute.
2. The issue has cropped up at more Britannia car parks than I can remember and it's rare to see one that has the RIGHT name. However, this is not something you can ascertain now because they won't show the contract except at POPLA stage (had you challenged landowner authority) or at court stage when they have to show it. Just be ready!
3. If you lose you pay £100 PCN plus about £50 court fees and (capped £50) legal costs, if allowed.PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

Thanks Coupon-mad.
Wow, if it's around £200 if you lose in court, and the fine is already £100 if we pay up now (with the threat of it being raised to £160), it's a no-brainer to take on the dirty scammers. My partner had been bowing down to just paying it off, as much as I want to fight their ludicrous claim.
Hopefully, this landowner/contract issue will be an extra weapon to defeat them with.2 -
Yes the risk is not a huge sum and you never risk a CCJ because if you did lose, you pay it off within 30 days and it's wiped forever. It is indeed a no-brainer to defend a PPC case. Also, did you know we see reported wins 99% of the time here?PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

Britannia have two problems ..
1: They don't seem to know who they are when it comes to contractual signs ?
WORST OF ALL ..
2: They use a legal called BWLegal who fail to advise them that by adding £60 which is unlawful and is known as double recovery by the courts. the claim will fail.
This why Britannia suffer, ?

Hi guys! Just to let you know, we had some new correspondence from Britannia saying they are "legally bound" (???) to uphold POPLA's decision and have issued us a final warning to pay the fine before it's increased to £160. I've drafted a response telling them that we refused to be scammed and that we have reported the case to the local MP. Is it worth posting our responses in here before sending, or just carry on as per normal while they bombard us with the threats?
Thanks!

just ignore the threats and await your time in court, save your ammunition for when they have to put facts on paper instead of philibustering and pure nonsensical waffle , rise above it, its all c**p and BS and everyone knows itthey could have written £1600 for all the good it will do them !!!the figures coupon mad told you are correct, not their lies , the extra £60 is double recovery and not allowed, possibly an abuse of process , well documented on this forum hundreds of times already3
