in your case the overpayment could be the carer element of UC for the months since you stopped caring (including the month in which you stopped). It’s just possible that they will decide that because you were being paid CA you should be allowed the carer element - but legally I think that would be incorrect.

Look at your UC statements which explain how your UC payment is calculated. If you told them you were a carer you should have been getting it. it will show as part of the calculation of your maximum UC entitlement before any deductions are made,
Information I post is for England unless otherwise stated. Some rules may be different in other parts of UK.1 -

if you haven’t had the carer element you actually haven't been overpaid benefits in total because the CA has been recovered by deduction from your UC anyway.Information I post is for England unless otherwise stated. Some rules may be different in other parts of UK.1 -

Your full amount would have been £67.25 per week plus the £270 per month UC.You say children, are they dependant children? Do you own or rent your home? or live with parents?0 -
i kept it as i thought it would be recovered and my children are dependent yes under 5 and i rent my home0

That £270 UC amount seems very low when you rent your home. What elements exactly are you receiving? have a look at your statement on your journal.
