SPEED CAMERA

Just to be sure, mine has a speed limiter that I can set. Sometimes it's a better option than a cruise control as mine drops out as soon as you touch the brake.0

Mine doesn't alert me to speed cameras, maybe it's broken?AdrianC said:

Why do you have a 'speed safe' item if you do not speed?sweetsand said:We have a speed safe item in our cars that alerts us to all speed cams, even mobile ones but we do not speed but you can actually accidentally do that so these gadgets keeps us 100% alert where cams usally located ie dangerous junctions etc.
It's called a speedometer. Perhaps if a few more people paid attention to it, as well as their surroundings, they wouldn't worry so much?1 -
Stop giving bad advice as if it is religiously true. Truvelo cameras for example take photos from front. Do some research first.sweetsand said:Dear OP
Please confirm the cam that flashed you was facing you IT took pictures of the front of youe vheicle and your face?
If that is the case, I'm 99% certain it was not you it was taking a pic of as these types are, were rear facing IE take pics of the rear of your car.
I've only seen a few forward facing speed cams they look very different and recently encountered one in Gravesend Kent.
I'm sure someone that has more experience of speed cams will either confirm what I said or otherwise.
NB - most police regions allow 10% plus 1mph but it is at their desrection - some depnding on your speed will give you an option of a speed awareness course as a few of the people I worked with got that.

Many don't as not needed in law. Some have buried sensors in addition to the device with the camera. Since they are type approved, you'd have to prove that they were reading faulty, which is difficult and painfully expensive. You'll have to wait the obligatory 14 days (if you are the registered keeper with DVLA) to find out.Iqqyhaque said:
Are redflex cameras rear facing or front facing ? It didn't have any lines on the road.MX5huggy said:I have it on very good authority that that is a redflex camera.0 -
Is the one I've took image of a redflex or gatso? And even if it is a redflex, is it allowed to flash front facing from the opposite side twice with a bright white flash?Mercdriver said:

Redflex is licensed for both directions simultaneously. It is up to the user whether it is used in that mode. It uses ground sensor loops hence no road markingsIqqyhaque said:

It is also capable of monitoring multiple vehicles at the same time.0 -
Yes Redflex can work as front facing and rear facing at the same time if the operators wish.Iqqyhaque said:

where did you get this information from ? I cant seem to find any info on redflex. It doesn't state anywhere if it's front facing or rear facing. It just states that it's capable of front facing. So is the gatso but that's not approved in the UK for front facing. I thought front facing white camera flash isn't approved by home office? Am I correct ?unforeseen said:

You might be lucky, I do know of locations where rear facing cameras can be set off by speeding oncoming traffic on the opposite side of the road ..... alledgedly :-)
