SPEED CAMERA
Options
Hi, I just wanted to know what speed camera is installed

on keighley road, manningham lane, bradford. They recently changed it. previously, it was facing the oncoming drivers, however now, they installed a new one facing the direction of the traffic flow. I think I was flashed yesterday from the front on the other side of the road, the flash was very bright and it flashed twice. I have a picture of the speed camera (please see attached). There were no road markings on either side of the road, apart from old markings left from the previous camera (so it's behind the camera and not in front of it). The camera looks a bit like a gatso (yellow back, grey surrounding and yellow front) it has a window on the front, with 4 black areas. I guess a radar slot, and cameras on top. The flash is huge installed on the top of the box. For reference, it looks like a redflex speed camera.

Dear OP
Please confirm the cam that flashed you was facing you IT took pictures of the front of youe vheicle and your face?
If that is the case, I'm 99% certain it was not you it was taking a pic of as these types are, were rear facing IE take pics of the rear of your car.
I've only seen a few forward facing speed cams they look very different and recently encountered one in Gravesend Kent.
I'm sure someone that has more experience of speed cams will either confirm what I said or otherwise.
NB - most police regions allow 10% plus 1mph but it is at their desrection - some depnding on your speed will give you an option of a speed awareness course as a few of the people I worked with got that.
We have a speed safe item in our cars that alerts us to all speed cams, even mobile ones but we do not speed but you can actually accidentally do that so these gadgets keeps us 100% alert where cams usally located ie dangerous junctions etc.0 -

Also, I'm aware of the speed awareness course and the consequence for speeding. I was doing around 34mph, Ive gone past it various times doing 37mph and it never flashes. And I'm aware that forward facing cameras have magenta filter, whereas this flash was super bright and it flashed twice. I'm not too sure if there was a car on the other side. My question is what sort of camera is this ? And will i get a ticket even though it flashed face on twice & has no road markings to indicate speed ?
Thanks iqqy1 -
Also, let me make myself clear. I'm not promoting anyone to speed, I was stating a fact, that sometimes I do 37mph (everyone does it lool, and i do it when the road is open) considering the road is pedestrian free, there's traffic lights and pedestrian crossings before this section of the road. So I'm well aware of my surroundings, I've been driving on that road for years and it's been a first for it to flash.0

It is also capable of monitoring multiple vehicles at the same time.0 -

If you're trying to justify your speeding by saying "everyone does it". You're wrong.1 -

It's called a speedometer. Perhaps if a few more people paid attention to it, as well as their surroundings, they wouldn't worry so much?5
