BT Halo or non Halo

Apparently if I move from Halo fibre 1 to a cheaper non halo broadband deal at the same speed; I might have to wait days or even weeks to get any technical problems fixed because with Halo I'm paying what apparently is a kind of insurance policy. A bit frightening as I need reliable broadband. Surely if there is a fault BT…

Just suppose for a moment that putting everyone on BT Halo 1(unless they wanted to upgrade to Halo 2) was a. cost neutral or even a lower cost and b. giving the user a better service then BT, at the very least, did not manage the information needed at all well. I thought temporarily that they had put me on a new contract without asking.
