Yes, Western Power here too and no expiry either. Free money for life!OTOH, the Openreach payment was a one-off, never to be repeated £150, take it or leave it. We took it, but only after they relolacted the pole and gave us the old one for gateposts.1

Morning all, best festive wishes to all. The electricity pole serves several properties (including mine) and utility network company have confirmed there is no wayleaves in place. I still want it relocated - any advice on strategy please? I have written to them to quote for relocation but am worried about costs. I know I have to pay for my supply to be buried but I assume not my neighbours? I would like to relocate it as would like to arrange a second storey extension. Many thanks to all for your previous helpfull replies0

If the pole is there without a wayleave serve a notice for them to remove it. They will then start negotiating, and your stance should be you can keep it and I will grant a wayleave once we agree a better location for it and a proposal to tidy up the wiring so it does not look as bad.

When I formally served notice on Openreach, it achieved the timely response which had been formerly lacking , but their surveyor made it very clear than both sides should be reasonable....and he was the final arbiter in that regard! That said, he did listen and agreed not to block the view of a neighbour when the pole was relocated, even though this meant an extra armoured cable run.
