Ebay seller wrongly described item

Looking for advice please I am a good ebayer with over 100 buys and 100% feedback. I saw a riding coat today advertised and I emailed the seller to check it was the one I wanted as it had the same name but I like to clarify. They had not responded so my OH bought it for my xmas. They have sent me the invoice as my a/c and responded to my qestion which was "does it have riding vents" they have said no. They advertised it as a riding coat/sailing coat, I was not suprised at the sailing part as this is the companies main market but they make riding wear.I checked the manufactuers web and I cannot find this coat, We bought a riding coat for a fair bit of money as it is advertised as such and being a mid lenght coat is requires vents at the back to ride in as it is not a blouson style. Where do I stand as I do not want to get negative feedback but we can also ill afford to buy a coat that was misrepresented or pay relisting fees in our opinion. So far the seller has not replied, does anyone know where I stand please? Thank you.

I can only guess that it was a last minute purchase, as you brought the item technically u are liable for the purchase, as something as simple as the seller didnot respond in time to an answer, does not constitue a valid reason for not buying.
Contact the seller, and maybe come to an agreement that you will pay their relisting fees and the fees incuured from the sale, as this may be better to offer than not go through the transaction.
The seller could issue a non paying bidder alert, and you could end up with neg feedback, yes you would loose your 100%, but it would still be around 99%.
xxx rip dad... we had our ups and downs but we’re always be family xx0 -
The seller has replied and said it was advertised correctly as she never mentioned vents. I cannot seem to get her to understand riding coats that are longer than a blouson have a some sort of vents for riding!! She wants me to pay her fees. What do I do now as it was described as a riding coat when it is not?? Many thanksFire up the Quattro!0

Thank you mum2one for your reply, but why am I liable when it was advertised as a riding coat when it is not? Even the maker of the coat does not regard this coat as for riding so why does she think she can get away with this? Thank you again.Fire up the Quattro!0

I'll be honest that I know nothing about actual riding coat, so the best thing would be contact ebay and say item not as described, its worth contacting the seller again, if they wont back down, get as much info as you can ie - from the original company, - info that relates to vents, the seller may start payment not recieved, if they do, then your need to argue and present your facts, .
If you outbid another buyer then hopefully the buyer will go to one of the others.

shes selling x, x only comes in pink, the seller then says after youve bought it that x is green. it doesnt make a difference if the seller doesnt mention the colour
the item isnt as it should be, if its not got the properties of a riding coat it isnt a riding coat, the buyer wanted a riding coat
btw i know !!!!!! all about riding coats so would only apply if as op said that riding coats have to have the vents or whateverYes Your Dukeiness0 -

So true. If the issue of riding vents was important, you ought to have waited for the answer.
I wouldn't have a clue whether a riding coat needed to have vents or not. How do you know the seller didn't use it for riding? My TV is broken!

My OH half seeing it was a riding coat clicked the buy now button. He is a novice with horses and assumed as the seller had described it as a riding coat that is what it was! As to if the seller used it for riding?, well the item is brand new so she could hardly ride in it? Thanks to all replies but please do not assume I bought it before getting an answer as I did not. I was waiting for reply to double check it was the coat I wanted. She has it listed as this coat but it is not, so I do not think I am to blame. If I listed an item as a pair of green Le Chameau wellies say the verzinoid (which are neoprene lined and therefore expensive) then someone bought them and I said they are not neoprene lined therefore cheaper and wrong model I would be selling under false pretences in my opinion. After carefully looking through her feed back I find 2 neautrals for items not as described i.e wrong item but you have to dig deep to find these.Fire up the Quattro!0 -
