Harassment

  • I do wonder whether this tenant has suffered a deterioration in mental health regarding this interpreation that he has been harassed and the ficticious allegations and made up compensation figures.
I'm sure you have nothing to worry about in terms of harassment claims but obviously now keep contact with him to the absolute minimum.
You could look into the NRLA and if there is still an advice line attached to the membership. This could help you to feel confident about your notice and the next steps.

  • Thanks Brett19852010, this has been reassuring to hear. We are a member of NRLA and I will call them as I have used the members advice line many times since March 2020. I have found them a bit hit and miss depending on who answers the phone but when speaking to someone experienced, it makes a difference. I have asked the solicitor to check and double check the notice served, but having initially asked him to respond to this incredulous damages claim my tenant wants to pursue, I have now requested that he ignore him completely, as many of you suggested, as I believe his habitual use of marijuana has distorted his view on actual events, I am nervous because he is very cunning but unhinged so not sure how this will play out. But to one and all, thanks again.
