I’ve just read the second half of your diary…backwards unfortunately….and I’m really happy for you that you’ve got a new job. I hope the better pay and more importantly the better hours will improve your health.
I think your attitude is really inspiring - you seem to have a really healthy mix of being a planner but also have an ‘ah well it will work out’ attitude, which I should definitely take note of for myself!I’ve also really enjoyed reading how the other people on the thread are caring for you and taking real interest in your journey. I’ll try and catch up with the first half of your diary when I can!Mortgage when saw the MSE light 💡: £85,000 (end date 2045)

Yes @Bluegreen143 he is looking for work now just no luck yet. Hopefully something will come up soon. Yeah it’s a rubbish income. It’s much better before deductions but they take so much off me in tax, ni, student loans and pension. This month I was deducted £1127 🤯@savingholmes you haven’t got off on the wrong foot at all. I haven’t taken offence. The opting back in is automatic so I will be staying in then. I’m not that silly lol! I did over commit with the kitchen etc but it’s made for a 💯 nicer home and it’s peanuts compared to what some people spend and I can’t undo it now 🤦🏼♀️@HelenaPinky that’s very nice of you to read my thread! I don’t think I could read it back tbh. The downs are depressing but I do get through them lol! Yea they are a wonderful little support network on here. It is nice to be able to get things off my chest where I can’t always do that with people I know in real life xMortgage started August 2020 £69,700

Hi @FtbDreaming,
I always try to catch up with your diary, we're a similar age, with 3 children (albeit my oldest has an apprentichip so independant of the day to day expenses but not the 'what's for tea' or 'I'll stay in the shower for 2 hours at a time' kinda stuff)
From memory, yours are younger but totally agree with the costs...they just outgrow things so fast, school bus/uniform/trips🤯 We're on a similar wage and that covers our monthly outgoings/some annual insurances. My DH quit his job last month, 5 people on your/our wage alone is tough (He has since joined an agency and paid weekly so have breathing space, but that's another story)
The 'good luck' does come around, just seems not as much as the 'bad luck' 🤦♀️
Your a good £25k ahead of me with the mortgage balance and that's a brilliant achievement!

FtbDreaming said:Hello!!! Well I joined MSE in 2016 in the DFW forums and I’ve finally progressed through to my ultimate goal as a Mortgage Free Wannabe! My house purchase has gone through today and the £69,700 is showing up in my online banking so a good motivation to get it paid off. Ive bought the house I currently live in from the housing association so no moving to do but lots of big plans for renovation starting with a loft conversion to get the much needed 4th bedroom.I’m not sure what my strategy is going to be yet as far as getting the mortgage down as a large chunk of my money will be going on the loft etc for the next year or 2 but I do have an obsession with round numbers so will definitely be rounding it down every week/ month to have a nice clean number. My mortgage payment is a low £269 over 30 years (2 year fix) but I’m hoping to pay more in the region of £500-£700 and bring the term down significantly. I’m 33 this Week and hoping I can get it all paid off before I’m 40...
Where have I come since 17/08/2020?I’ve paid off 8% of the mortgage (£5450)
I’ve doubled my income and got my dream nursing role!I’ve overcome several adverse experiences 🙄
I’ve got a lovely new kitchen and bathroom mainly through blood; sweat and tears but also costing in the region of £12k… this has resulted in a bit of debt (all 0%) but no doubt added to the value of the house and improved our living conditions.I have continued to raise 3 very expensive children and give them all the life experiences I can
ive got almost £1000 emergency fund
and last of all I’ve survived to tell the tale 🙃
I will reflect some more when I’ve got time; the MFW journey is still on but I doubt it’ll be as soon as my 40th tbh (I turn 35 this Saturday) we’re in the midst of a cost of living crisis so I’m just living life and doing my best to survive and pay the bills. Thanks for all the support over the last 2 years xMortgage started August 2020 £69,700

Look at how much you have achieved in those two years. You should be very proud of yourself for keeping going when things were tough. Just think where you could be in another 2 yearsMe, DD1 19, DS 17, DD2 14, Debt Free 04/18, Single Mum since 11/19

Hi! I’ve done my little monthly OP and updated my signature! If I take another £1170 off the balance by new year then that will mean I’ve paid 10% of the initial mortgage balance off. I will pay down £600 in my normal payments and op so just an extra £570 to meet my new year target! I could possibly do it if I do a money shuffle!I’m down to £63900 now! I should be in the £50s next year!I don’t update much now as I don’t have as many paydays now it’s monthly. I’m still loving the new job. Hoping to be kept on come May but we’ll see. I’ve done the odd a&e bank shift for cash flow so still keeping my clinical skills. Work life balance is much better. I have lost 20lb in weight and go to the gym 3 days a week before work! I feel great tbh like a new woman and a few years younger lol xxxMortgage started August 2020 £69,700
