Forgive me if this has already been asked....
As a self employed sole trader that's still trading I'm certain I qualify for the second SEISS payment but  when will I be notified by HMRC if they consider me eligible for this? I have searched a few places but can't seem to find the answer. Just really need to know how I will be notified and when? If this helps I'm currently claiming and receiving universal credit.
Thank you, excell.

Did you claim the first grant? The 2nd one has the same criteria but you need to be adversley affected after July 14th.
There's also another thread here regarding this. https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/6179343/has-anyone-heard-from-hmrc-regards-the-applying-for-the-second-grant-yet#latest

This time we are again being asked to self confirm that we are eligible, and I wonder how many people will be audited, or whether they will wait until this years tax returns are completed?

HMRC can check to see that the amounts claimed are shown on your 2020/21 SA Return.
  • If you logon to the government gateway it will tell you what day you are able to claim from.
  • I got it the first time but it’s saying now that I’m not eligible this time round?

    Nothing’s changed in that time

Unlikely, since your 20/21 SA return is not due until 31/1/22!
Nor will it be assessed on 19/20, only on 18/19 and the 2 years prior.

Mr S got an email last week giving his claim date which was today

He had to phone and not go online as theres a glitch with NI claimants . He had to declare no less then 4 times that he had been adversely affected by Covid and was once again given reference numbers to include in his tax returns

The first point being made was that HMRC will be able to see (in due course, some time before 31 January 2022) that a taxpayer has properly included the grant as assessable income. This will only happen if the format is amended for 2020/21 (it would not show up on the current SA103S as a separate item, although it would be in "other business income").
