Evening all,
CCl, I hope you have a lovely evening and manage to cheer your SIL up.
Smushesma, food sounds lush!
Today was weekly Mr T click and collect day (and I called into cafe nero as I had a gift card due to expire, bought some cakes as they didn't have any bags of coffee - kids were happy!)
In the way of small things..
* froze some grapes that were a bit soft
* checked banking and updated spreadsheet
* Shared bath water, let hair dry naturally as usual
* updated freezer inventory
It really was the small things today!! I can't think of anything else!
Take care all.Sticking with the "Small things" thread to keep up us on the straight and narrow.

I’m up and the house is quiet so I’m sat enjoying a drink whilst listening to the birds and watching them fly between trees. It’s a lovely start to the day. It’s also lovely and sunny which is a welcome change after the last few days. A good day for doing the beds but our washing machine is out of action (not broken) but we have builder in doing the utility so we have no electrics in there. My plans for today:
some work, but from home
couple of admin jobs, chase a couple of people
by phone and one fact finding mission
food delivery later, so triage fridge first, including some cooked chicken in stroganoff for tea
reboil some jam that hasn’t set. I’m a novice and followed a recipe by a renowned jam
maker but anyone else never convinced by a recipe, but decide as it’s the first time you’ve made it to follow it? Well I now know I should have gone with my instinct.Carry on smartening up smalls rooms. Have the things just need to get on with it before it becomes a bit of a frog 🐸
order something online. Went to do it yesterday but hesitated when there wasn’t sufficient limit on our just for points CC. This sounds like we hold a high balance on there, we don’t we only have a low limit and I just hadn’t paid over this months money as I was stoozing it. Payment duly made so we can be protected for the new purchase (which we’ve got savings for and will be paid off this month). It had a ‘promo code’ box in the basket so a really pleased a quick g00gle search came up with a £100 code off. No cashback available with this company but still, can’t complain.Check for any surveys and cashback payable.Have a good day all. Purps.5 -
Good morning @PurpleFairy26 and we're trying out your stroganoff recipe tonight after getting some creme fraiche yesterday!
The boys didn't like the answer when I said what we were having for tea but they were relieved we were trying a different recipe this time!
Todays list...
* wash a load and hang out to dry as its not raining YAY ✅
* order dh some coffee pods from lakeland going through his works perks site for cashback and using a discount code they sent me ✅
* make chicken and mushroom stroganoff - enough for 6 as my dad is decorating today so will send them some food for tonight.
* re-string guitar.... this is a massive frog... hmmm maybe today but then I don't think I have the patience.... after all it might work first time..... but unlikely! I think this frog will still be here tomorrow! ✅✅ it needs tuning but it’s done.. eventually
* check banking and update spreadsheet ✅✅
* Easy peasy pizza for the kids lunch today - aka cheese on toast with some tomato puree under and a little bit of chopped pepperoni out of the fridge that wants using up all popped under the grill✅✅
Hopefully I'll be back with more in a bit.

Morning folks!
We had a nice meal thanksfar too late to bed for me though 11:30
I'm shattered today!
Nice and sunny here too ahead of the high winds we're expecting. I also have washing pegged out. You can tell we're both back at the gym because the amount of washing has increased exponentially!
Today's things:B/L/D from stores
Meal plan for next week and amend shopping click and collect to match
MUST do budget EoM/SoM. We have shifted the date now to mid-month and it's making us lazy.
Prep all stuff for tomorrow morning
Start planning my weekend list. Scooter acquisition is back on the agenda
Nice early night
Have a good one all

Afternoon allI am a bit rubbish at posting this week - babysitting all day Tuesday and preserving garden stuff like mad ever since! I did chilli jam yesterday and have ratatouille chutney bubbling away today
This includes augergines, peppers, courgettes, onions, apples, garlic and tomatoes. I bought the aubergines and peppers, and the apples were windfalls from a neighbour's tree, but all the rest came from the garden.
I still have more chutney - spicy runner bean, apple and pumpkin, and just apple, and more raspberry jam to make. Then a bit of a break before the quinces ripen and the autumn glut of (yet more) courgettes etc happens.I have a couple of froggy phone calls to make - and speaking of frogs, we are getting out annual invasion of little ones which like to come in the house, much to the dog's horrorWe have to be really careful not to step on them, as they tend to come in during the evening when it is getting dark. Not sure why, maybe they like the cold kitchen tiles. They are gently placed outside among the raspberry canes. Not sure if it is the same ones that come in repeatedly, or different ones....

@DawnW I love frogs!!! 😍😍 we're putting a couple of ponds in during the autumn with the desperate hope that frogs colonise them 😉
I have finally done some housework! 🙌 I feel a lot better for it too 😉 I have put washing on the line and have decided on dinner based on what I need to use up prior to going away for the weekend- no additional money spent ☺
My first lot of paper for the fire 'bricks' should be ready by the time I return so will make them next week and get another lot started and I've got loads of runners from my strawberries (the strawberries are a bit boring from these plants) which I will pot on for overwintering then use as underplanting in the front garden once we've sorted that. I'm still collecting cardboard for weed suppressant out there too - it will save me lots of cash even if it is making my house look like a warehouse at the moment! 🙈😂6 -
carrielovesfanta said:@allydowd - what a pain about the card! You say compromised again... is there somewhere you shop regularly perhaps that might be not so safe? I swear that the time mine got diddled that it was the petrol station.

Up early as wind woke me banging a door. Still blowing a bit of a gale out there. But thankfully nothing damaged when I’ve checked which is good as we have a very high piled skip and lots of builders products dotted round our front and back garden at the moment! List to do today:
get another load of washing on before builder comes so it can dry in this breeze.Roast some tomatoes that are an excess and freeze
do meat delivery that I didn’t checkout last week as I got distracted
deal with 4kg of blackberries we picked yesterday. Mix of jam and open freezing for crumbles in autumn and winter
couple of hours work this morning. From home 😃
check banking
do jam re boil I didn’t get round to yesterday.Quick vacuum through but as builders are here we have plaster dust in hall and kitchen which can’t do much about until he’s finished as it’s open without doors. Rest of rooms door have been shut and they’re ok.Need to think of paint colours for two new rooms we didn’t have a week ago.Message sister to see if she can pick me up something from a shop by her so I don’t have to pay postage. That’ll do to start me off, have a good day all.
