Partner’s hospital appointment went well, he’s expecting his Kaftrio to arrive on Monday! We’ve waited so long for this, it’ll be fantastic for him to finally start on it.

Finally painted our bedroom yesterday, just a few touch ups needed this afternoon. We went with Lick paint for the majority of the house, interspersed with cheaper own-brand paint for neutrals & woodwork. I usually don’t hold much truck with fancy brand paint, but the quality is phenomenal, and the colours are just lovely and couldn’t be found anywhere else. The house is slowly starting to feel like our home, which is really nice.

Got a letter confirming the date of my Zoom court date to finalise my divorce, which is also exciting. It’s been a long 4 years, and I’ll be glad to have it over and done. I’ll be even more glad to claim back half the costs from my ex, to the tune of £800. Not sure what it’ll be put towards yet, but it’ll be welcome. Also due a small inheritance from a distant relative around May, likely being around £3.5k. Will see what stage we’re at then, but will again be very welcome.

Still biting my lip over how much I might or might not get paid this month, having been put on furlough for the first time. But we’re doing ok for the budget this month, dog bills notwithstanding. All praise The Budget Mom, don’t think I’d be keeping on top of everything quite so much, if I hadn’t found this way of budgeting.

Partner started on his Kaftrio yesterday, a few days earlier than expected. I’m so happy for him, this will truly be life changing.

Also spoke with my solicitors, and apparently my ex was paying half my divorce costs at the same time as I was, so the money I had earmarked for it could be put back into savings - £1.5k! Very pleased about that.

Just home from taking the dog to his second hydrotherapy session. With COVID restrictions, owners aren’t allowed into the clinic with their pets, but I was told he did wonderfully. He’s absolutely cream crackered, and fast asleep, wrapped up in his fancy drying coat. Not so fancy that I didn’t mind taking the scissors to it, to alter it to fit him better though! He has weekly appointments on-going for now, and will be seeing the physio again next week.

We’re going to have to work out an alternate arrangement for transporting him though. I drive a 2015 Renault Twingo, and the pup has always travelled in the rear seat, plugged into the seat belt. With his cruciate problems though, the jump from floor to seat is just too far to be safe now. There’s 5 doors, but the back door doesn’t open wide enough for him to step into the rear footwell and then onto the seat. We managed today with makeshift steps up to the seat, which was fine on the way to the clinic. Afterwards though, he was so tuckered out and a bit wobbly, that he couldn’t manage the steps and I had to lift him in - at 20kg, this isn’t exactly a solution. The front seat is more accessible, but he wouldn’t fit properly, and it’s not very safe. The boot is tiny, but he might fit lying down.

Either way, it can’t be steps anymore. We’ll be investing in a folding ramp, and I’ll try him in my boot first and see how we get on. If it doesn’t work, then I’ll have to get insured on my partner’s jeep, and then learn how to drive it! Have only driven minis, a Peugeot 208, a fiat 500, and my Twingo, so big cars are a bit of an unknown. His parents have offered us their 308 estate, if I decided to change my car, but not sure yet.

Partner wants a motorbike in the spring, and then his motorbility contract is up for renewal early next year. The jeep has been fantastic for transporting furniture, carting stuff to the dump, and moving house - it’s been a real workhorse! - but it also costs a fortune to run, and costs all of his PIP mobility allowance. I think we might consider a cheaper estate car next - something that can still fit flatpacks and dogs in the boot, but not as bulky & petrol-heavy. Maybe by then we’ll be a 1 car & 1 bike household, or with a cheap, small runaround for when the weather is too bad for the bike. Either way, it looks like my days of scooting around in my tiny city car, parallel parking into everywhere, might be numbered!
