Hi does anyone know which credit cards allow minors (under 18) to be added on to existing cards as authorised users ? I have American Express with cards each for both me and my partner and wanted to add my 15 year old daughter on but they won't as they have to be 18!

You can't add a minor to any credit card.1

Why would you give a 15 year old your credit card?0

We can close this thread now - it will not happen.4

You can get her a pre-paid card and just load it with £50 a month (or whatever), good way to get her into the habbit of being responsible with money.

Nationwide have a current account with debit card for minors that would be a suitable alternative.

I don't know if this is still true, however this question was asked 14 years ago and this came up...

"As far as I am aware the only company that will allow an under 18 to be a second cardholder on an account is Capital One."
"Capital One don't ask for the additional cardholders dob, all they would need is a letter stating the full title and name of the cardholder to be added, with your signature on it, but obviously you would be liable for all of the spending that he does."
Things change though, because.....
"Dont know if they still do but the Amex green card used to allow under 18 secondary card holders.... though with the true amex you always have the problem that it isnt accepted in as many places as Visa etc"0 -

"Capital One don't ask for the additional cardholders DOB"I think you`ll find they do -You can add a maximum of three extra cardholders to your account. To add a cardholder, sign in to your online account and send us a secure message including the following information:
- Title (Mr/Mrs/Miss/Ms)
- Full name
- Full address including postcode
- Relationship to primary cardholder
- Date of birth
- Confirmation that your extra cardholder consents to having their details checked by fraud prevention agencies.

Indeed so, but the paedophile involved would be more of concern.0
