You can actually just take out a additional authorised card under your name with Amex and MBNA, they dont actually check who its issued to as your liable for the bill.0

No you can't. And YES they do!! Stop talking utter nonsense.
MBNA site says : "Additional cardholder - you can share your credit card account and credit limit with anyone aged 18 or over, subject to status. Handy if you’d like to keep track of expenses on one card. As the main cardholder, you'll be responsible for any spending and making monthly payments."
Amex site says :"Supplementary Cards can be requested for anyone aged 18 or over and are subject to approval. If approved, you will be responsible for any spending on your Account made by the Supplementary Cardmember."Please note - taken from the Forum Rules and amended for my own personal use (with thanks) : It is up to you to investigate, check, double-check and check yet again before you make any decisions or take any action based on any information you glean from any of my posts. Although I agree that all (if not, certainly most) cards require additional cardholders to be 18 nowadays, I had an additional card on my mum's Barclaycard account in the late 80's at the age of 16/17. My parents both worked full-time and I had it to do any supermarket shopping after school. Unfortunately my mum is no longer with us to check whether it was actively permitted or DoB simply wasn't asked for - I know for a fact she wouldn't have lied though.0
