Additional cardholder under 18

Options
My son is travelling to Hong Kong in the summer and I would like to put him on one of my credit cards as an additional cardholder. However, he is only 17 and all my current credit cards do not allow me to do this. Does anybody know of a credit card provider that allows additional cardholders to be under the age of 18?

    hi

I think you need to be 18 for any sort off creditcard even a additonal holder
    2015 wins £4.00 not mse:(
    2014 £44.00:mad:2013 £83.00 2012 £601.50
    2011 £1554.50 2010 £698.00 2009 £2793.00
    2008 £2816.00 2007 £1034.00
  • The T&C's of most cards will state over 18, you could be imaginative with the details you present for the additional card holder, however if anything untoward happened then i would imaging the creditor would become very awkward

you could try a "pre-paid" option, at least you can limit the amount he spends !

  • you could be imaginative with the details you present for the additional card holder,

Really, don't even think about doing this. Deliberately putting incorrect details on credit applications, even for a joint cc, is not 'imaginative'.

    Lenders view it as fraud.

Go for the prepaid option, I think.

As far as I am aware the only company that will allow an under 18 to be a second cardholder on an account is Capital One.

Dont know if they still do but the Amex green card used to allow under 18 secondary card holders.... though with the true amex you always have the problem that it isnt accepted in as many places as Visa etc

Capital One don't ask for the additional cardholders dob, all they would need is a letter stating the full title and name of the cardholder to be added, with your signature on it, but obviously you would be liable for all of the spending that he does.
