I’m away from home at the moment and expected Hermes to attempt delivery again tomorrow. However they took it upon themselves to leave it with a neighbor even though I didn’t request it in the app
who is in the wrong here ?

If it goes missing then surely that would be the courier fault ?Aylesbury_Duck said:No one.

Has it gone missing?

Do you have reason to believe it will go missing now the neighbour has it?venomx said:

Did you explicitly tell them not to do this?1

In the app is an option to “ leave in safe place “ or “ leave with neighbor “mattyprice4004 said:Did you explicitly tell them not to do this?
I didn’t tick either of them0 -
Do you have reason to distrust this neighbour? Why are you concerned it has gone missing before it has gone missing...venomx said:

You cannot make a claim for something going wrong, until it does. Unless you are planning to pretend it has gone wrong....2 -
As other have said.
There's something really wrong with process when recipients have an app that allows them to make choices, consciously let a courier attempt a delivery because you expect them to come back the following day for the same 25-50p a delivery.
This is why all couriers are now moving to a one delivery attempt then redirect to retail, neighbour, safe place or depot. They can't offer the prices ecommerce expects and keep sending drivers to houses with packages....6 -
That's not the same as telling them not to do either.venomx said:

What's the real problem here? Do you suspect your neighbour will steal the item? Are you not on speaking terms with them?2 -
Not at all. I do have mental health issues which makes me cautious and slightly paranoid0
