I used to have a galaxy S8, worked fine for years,. I broke the S8 so I have got a new A41, it has under glass fingerprint sensor.
I think it used to work fine for a few days, but then I re-did my thumbprint because it stopped unlocking my phone(not using any banking apps, it just stopped recognizing my thumb, I think it was because i set that up before fitting the screen protector). and ever since then, all 3 of my apps(halifax, barclays, BOS) just say "fingerprints changed, because you've changed since you last logged in, for security, just this time, please use your memorable info"
But it says that all the time? been doing it for weeks. how do I reset it. I suppose re-installing the apps might work but thats got to be a last ditch attempt

Try deleting the finger print and re doing it.

Do sometimes find that finger does not get read (all banking apps), but often this is when wet, of just after. So could be that the crinkles that are created on wet skin cause a miss-match.

As to it not working on some phones. That is one of the issues with Android and how each phone manufacture implements android into their (skin) version of it.

I have two phones, bragger!, one with a "conventional" sensor on the back, the other with one of those trendy under screen sensors. The former works flawlessly for Lloyds log in but, as with almost everything, the under screen sensor doesn't. Therefore I have to use the normal log in to Lloyds.
What I'm saying, is, with some phones those in screen sensors are rubbish.  Phone is a Galaxy 71, the other a Moto. I don't bother with the Samsung's fingerprint because it is so unreliable. It took forever to even register two fingers to the phone.

I have a Samsung Galaxy S10+, and the fingerprint sensor works fine on all my banking apps.

I did have an issue yesterday with some of the apps as I had changed a fingerprint, so the fingerprint login was disabled until I signed in normally. Some of the apps then automatically switched to use the fingerprint login next time, but the Lloyds and Halifax ones didn't. I had to specifically go into the app's settings and re-enable the fingerprint login. I wonder if it's something like this the OP is experiencing. Maybe not, but it's a thought to consider.

The Halifax app fingerprint doesn't work on my Xiaomi, all other banking apps work fine, so it's definitely a Lloyds Halifax thing..
It just annoys when they clearly know there is a problem yet they won't admit it, and try to get you to jump through hoops as if it's your fault!!

Same here (with the Halifax app), the annoying thing is that it did work until an update which broke something. Lloyds/Halifax have been telling some people in the app reviews they are aware of the problem now and hope to fix it. Though being Lloyds it will probably take months and months to do so.

Yes, I have had the same issue on my Halifax and Lloyds apps/Xiaomi  phone since mid October and reported it to them via Halifax.
They raised an incident number for me and the latest I had was that they acknowledge the issue and their developers were looking at it - but no estimated time for a fix

Lloyds and Halifax fingerprint no longer work for me since updating their apps.
My phone even has the Android security patch level Sept 2020. The phone is a Xiaomi as others have noted having issues

  • I've jjust tried fingerprint logon in both Halifax and Llloyds apps. Whiloe I don't particularly get on with the fingerprint sensor in the Galaxy A71, it works fine in both apps.

It's a problem with some of the latest Xiaomi phones. The Lloyds group apps won't work with fingerprint id. The CoOp bank app displays an error message but still works.
What appears to be happening is that the apps see an incorrect fingerprint message before the scanner has been touched. Most of the other bank apps allow a subsequent try but the Lloyds group ones don't.

Exactly this. Other banks allow consecutive fingerprints if the first touch is incorrect. Though there's an issue with the fingerprint reader throwing an incorrect touch without you even touching the reader.

It should be an easy fix by their developers...

  • I've just renewed my phone to the Xiaomi MI 10T Pro 5g and although the fingerprint id works every time on all my other apps that I've set up with this option, the Halifax app will not work with it. The fingerprint sensor on this phone is within the power button on the side and is excellent with everything else.
I've uninstalled and reinstalled 3 times and it still won't work.
I've contacted the app developer via Google store so will be interesting to see what they say. If I get an answer or solution I'll update on here.
