to all the suggestions of moving back in, i would advise against this.  the relationship has broken up.  the bloke sounds like a prat and it is lucky that she found this out before she actually married him!  if she moves back in with this hostility going on, there can only be huge rows and possibly even violence breaking out.  when people are angry and doors are being kicked down or pick locked, things can get out of hand, so it is best that she stays away from the bloke and let her solicitor deal with it as he obviously is not someone that she can talk to in any sensible way about the house.
i wouldn't risk my personal safety or getting done for attacking him in a rage so that i can get one over him.
That was exactly my point on why she should move back in. By making it uncomfortable for the other party they are more likely to force a sale, whereas at the moment there is no incentive to sell.
the fact that he changed the locks indicates he doesn't want her there.  he has now let his brother live at the property so there are 2 men against her.  so let's see, one woman and 2 blokes, and as unpleasant as she can make the house feel for her ex-partner, he can also make things very unpleasant for her.  two people can play at that game.

if it were me, i would rather not put myself through that, and i wouldn't feel safe in a house with 2 men, who do not want you there.  then say there was a huge row and i lose my temper and throws stuff at him and he gets injured, i would be charged with GBH and end up with a criminal record!  no thanks.  there are easier ways to get the money than having to go through all that.

We don’t know the full story here. No mention of who paid the deposit. There are always two sides to a storey and I suspect the Ex paid a large deposit and for improvements and now the op wants half the equity..... Sounds to me like you have to go for a forced sale but a few more facts would have been nice before everyone jumps to conclusions as to why the Ex won’t respond.
Sorry but you suspect wrong. The deposit was  Help to buy scheme which would be paid off on the sale of the house, so the figures of the deposit are irrelevant. You're making it sound like I'm ripping him off, which is certainly not my intention. I'm able to have half of everything in the house but because he bought it I don't want any of it and that wouldn't be fair. I've invested in my fair share of the house too.

And I paid for the improvements and upkeep of the house
