iPad supplier refusing replacement money

Hello.
My iPad recently stopped charging. I went to the Apple store, they confirmed it is faulty, not damaged and - even though it’s been over a year - consumer law says a new one must be provided.
Apple said if they have provided it directly, they would have supplied one then and there but, as it was a different supplier, it has to be that supplier. They also said if that supplier no longer has stock, they can give me the money for Apple to restock it and replace it (much less than the cost of the iPad).
The supplier are refusing to do this and want me to send it to a repair shop they have a relationship with. Is this legal? Sure if Apple have already said it’s faulty and needs replacing, the supplier should replace it or provide the money for me to go and replace it?

<even though it’s been over a year - consumer law says a new one must be provided. >Consumer law says no such thing . .Vendor has choice to repair replace or refund .Take the Apple report to the vendor and start a claim under Consumer Regulations .If the vendor agrees to the fault then at their choice they can repair replace or refund ( less usage )

Apple have already said it cannot be repaired.
surely they can’t just slow walk it and demand I send it to some repair shop?0 -
The seller is responsible under Consumer Law not Apple .Apple warranty subject to their terms .Who is demanding you send to a repair shop ??I said take it to the seller under Consumer Law and see what they say .Repeat Consumer Law does not say a new one must be provided .Nor a refund . Sellers choice as i said and that's Consumer Law .1

If its more than six months old then you need to prove it was a manufacturing fault there when purchased. The vendor you purchased from then needs to repair it. If you have proof from Apple that it was a manufacturing defect then show that to the vendor and ask for a repair.
Most likely you will get a refurbished item (ie someone elses repair) and they send yours off to be repaired/refurbished. You have no rights to a new device (and even if you bought from Apple you would most likely have got a refurb not new).

Apple often say things can't be repaired, they mean, they don't repair them. Other repairs will often fix what they say can't be done...
