Resolved "Klarna didn't take payment"
Hi,
I bought a bike from halfords in June 2020 for £140, and because of what's happening with Covid-19, I thought I'd take the 12 months interest free option, I could of paid in full but financially better for me to pay over 12 months, or I could of paid it on either 2 credit cards, so I didn't actually need to use klarnas service but non the less I took this option.
7 days before my payment date I paid via the app of £11.67, after entering my card details the natwest payment screen flashed about 10 times unusually, I checked my klarna app and it said I had paid, and their was nothing more to do, excellent, so I closed the natwest payment screen.
On my payment date I noticed I got a message saying my monthly statement is available to view, but if you have paid ignore this message,
2 points 1st, a monthly statement means to me just a run down of what's been paid and owed.
And I had paid so I ignored.
6 days after my due date I received an email saying I had been charged a late payment fee 🤬
I went straight onto my klarna app and yep I had been charged £12! and no history of me paying my 1st payment which I paid like 7 days earlier. Confused?
I have since contacted natwest and there is a transaction number for the payment I sent klarna, the payment was left open for an hour but klarna failed to except payment.
Now I'm facing the possibility of my credit score being effected after 6 years of not missing a payment on anything, even when I was 40k in debt, so for the incompetence of this company and for the sake of £11.67 I am facing a 6 year negative knock on my credit score, which I find absolutely shocking, I am so angry right now.
I have filed a complaint, but this will take up to at least 8 weeks going on other peoples opinions, going on that basis it will certainly effect my score well before I can get this looked at.
The man on the phone today did say if its proven it wasnt my fault it won't go against me, but I have the feeling this will be dragged out for months.
Where would I go after this, will it just be the ombudsman or should I take this company to court, as it is clear their app and payment system has caused all of this.
Thank you

£140 spilt over 12 months
Stupidly I paid the £12 fee and now they say they can't refund🤬
I have paid off my remaining balance 7 days after they basically stole £12 from me, 11months early! my balance of £152 has been paid0 -
One missed payment, now settled, will have limited impact in a few months.1
-
But I didn't miss the payment, why should I bare the brunt for their incompetence, I might need to buy a new taxi for my business say in 7 weeks, but if this will take off 150 points off my score I'll end up having to pay higher interest for 3 or 5 years😪🤬
Thanks for your reply👍0 -
If it shows up, you can raise a dispute with the Credit reference Agency and they can look into it. Provide as much info as possible too.1

Thank youYOU CHECK THE CHUFFING STATEMENT TO MAKE SURE ITS BEEN PAID. My credit card is paid in full every month by direct debit. Even though I can see it has gone out of my bank account I still check the credit card statement to make sure it shows it was paid.
Yet again we have another story where someone expects others to exercise their personal responsibility for them and is surprised to find out that things can go wrong when you do that. You were the one who didn't check your statement. Had you checked the statement you'd have seen the payment had not been made and could have sorted it before you got a default. Had you also checked your bank account you'd have seen the £11.67 never left it.I don't know why you're angry at them, sure the payment didn't go through but things go wrong but ultimately all the information was provided to you to show you it hadn't. It isn't their fault you never bothered to check the statement or wondered why you had more money in your bank than you thought you should. An ombudsman won't find in your favour if you are truthful in your declaration of the facts and admit you failed to check your statement, one which showed no payment. You'll lose even if you lie because they can provide a statement sent to you which showed no payment.

The bank clarifies I paid
Klarna are wrong not me0 -
There you go, if you have already paid, as I had paid, ignore 🤬 a message to say we've been having payment issues might have been more appropriate rather than saying ignore0 -

So it's not just me, it must just be the people not the company at all 🙄
