Returning unsatisfactory PC to AO.com

If I bought a ready made PC I would probably want to rid it of bloatware so the first thing I would do is wipe the hard drive and reinstall Windows. That would also check the activation code works. So it wouldn't matter if someone had previously used it.0

Does Fred not also build his own cars ?0

If you inspected it in a shop it would be turned on.And apart from being turned on, in a shop you might possibly try it out with some software that wouldn't neccessarily be pre-installed on it if you bought it?(Oh God! Am I beginning to agree with you? This can't be happening!!!)0

The seller should make it clear if they are going to charge you for plugging it in or installing software. Do they do that? I don't buy ready made PCs.0

However, if you have used the product or had it installed, we may not be able to sell it to someone else. This means that where the value of the product is reduced by your use, we may only make a partial refund, or charge you for the reduction in value. If you have not used the product and it is returned to us in the original packaging, you will receive a full refund. Your refund will be made within 14 days of collection of the appliance.

That's not clear at all I am afraid. What is using the product? How much is a partial refund? What is the 'reduction in value'. Sounds like the retailer can just make it up as they go along. Real rip off the customer.0

Yes it's getting a bit dull. Amazon just tell you to delete everything before returning. That sounds more reasonable. Obviously an area to choose your retailer carefully to avoid any trouble.0

I wouldn't be happy purchasing a new PC which had been used and god knows what downloaded from the net.Amazon would sell that in their warehouse as used. They will soak up the loss, but do it too many times, and bang goes your account!
