Hi went for a free run this morning!
Made fresh granola for a yoghurt, banana and granola breakfast, I forgot to put cinnamon in the granola - lets see if boys notices.
Am feeling fretty as will be going back to work next week. And some students are unhappy with grades.
Will cook all meals from freezer this weekend as we had an open freezer moment during heatwave and temperature reached 0 before it turned around. I really the old fridge freezer had burnt itself off.
Not much else to report really. Happy Friday

Good evening all, I don't know where this week has gone, I can't believe I haven't got round to posting/reading on here since Tuesday.
@DawnW I'm with you on the litter - when the local Mcd's/costa/KFC reopened the level of litter almost overnight was disgusting on our daily walking route
Re mushrooms, I've never thought about freezing them.... do you just freeze them raw or blanched?
@ditty1234 glad your ds passed first time
@delta13 good luck with the househunting
@carrielovesfanta Nice to hear about your training sessions - sounds like torture!
Lovely to read everyone's news.
I'm struggling to think about what I've done these last few days in the way of small things....
Banking checked
New coffee machine ordered for dh (went through his works perks site so should get cashback, used a birthday voucher lakeland sent me for £10 off against the purchase also - and it was discounted my £40 from what we nearly bought it for the other week
)
All meals from stores
Made a rosemary conley turkey stroganoff to use up various bits and pieces from the fridge (and made a 2nd batch of the sauce to make a mushroom stroganoff as we'd got lots of mushrooms in the lidl veg box this week) We had one of these for lunch yesterday/one today with part baked bagettes that were close to their best before dates. We used to use this recipe years ago but then when pregnant with ds2 I couldn't stand the smell of it cooking (we turned 12 last week and we've not had it since I had him!!) Anyway, we ate them both but didn't really enjoy so I've said we won't have this recipe again. SO does anyone have a tasty tried and tested mushroom stroganoff recipe to share? When we were in Butlins in Feb they had one and it was lovely and we were all reminising about it whilst eating ours!
Went to collect my normal click and collect shop (although I'd changed the time from mid afternoon to 8am ) as I was going to arrive just before 8am I decided to pop to the next door m&s food if it looked quiet (which it did, only 2 other shoppers in there) to buy dh's fave coffee (bought 10 bags which will last him quite a while and used up a gift voucher I had) Then walked past costalot which had no-one in other then the staff, so I popped in there and picked up 2 bags of little shortbreads (£2.50 a pack
) and paid for them using a gift card that during lockdown I'd found under the lining of my handbag! That really was the first bit of "normal" life for me really.... we are still pretty much in lockdown although have our extended household now with my parents. That is until the boys go back to school in September then who knows!
Needed to use up some fromage frais that none of us were keen on... added a bit of sugar and some lemon curd.. blitzed it, diced up some nectarines topped with the from/frais then topped with some mixed seeds for a lovely dessert for this evening.
Thats enough for me. Take care one and all.Sticking with the "Small things" thread to keep up us on the straight and narrow.

@1LuckyLady. I use this recipe for stroganoff (normally chicken and mushroom but would work with anything)
fry a chopped onion, add mushroom/chicken etc and fry until cooked. Add good 1 tsp of paprika and a glug if Worcestershire sauce. Add some stock (1/2 pint or so depending on how much sauce you want) Looks a bit awful at this point but stick with it. Leave it to cook for 10 minutes or so on a low heat. Take off the heat and stir in a couple of tablespoons of low fat creme fraiche. Ta da.Thanks for reminding me, we haven’t had this for ages but I think my two would now eat it so it’s going on next weeks plan when I’ve bought some chicken.5 -
@1LuckyLady I freeze mushrooms that aren't going to get used before they go past it, just wipe them, chop and freeze. Icyland do bags of frozen mushrooms too, handy to have in the freezer for when you don't have fresh and don't fancy going to the shops.

I didn't read my book yesterday as I was so enthralled with my knitting

Today's list:
⛅Money into savings.
⛅I need some wool and knitting tools (for cable knitting) so will head out to a shop who have a sale on.
⛅Meet my friend for a catch-up cup of tea.
⛅More Knitting - practicing knits before following a proper pattern.
⛅Use up some red and yellow peppers in the fridge for a Chilli Pie for dinner.
⛅Skype my family.
And that's it! Hope everyone has a good Saturday.

Morning all. I’ve had a really busy week so struggled to always get on and post. We are planning a lazy weekend but have a few jobs I need to do:
payday yesterday so I need to move the money around at some point
make jam with gifted fruit
roast some gifted tomatoes
get something out of freezer for tea
bulk order some chicken online
washing away once off the line
bit of housework
message a couple of pals
organise some returns to go back
reconcile just for points CC
Have a good day all. Purps.5 -
