Dash cam install

Getting a new Volvo next month, spoke to the dealer about getting a dash cam fitted and they said 'Volvo don’t authorise dash cam systems and isn’t something that we are allowed to get involved in'...

Does anyone have any recommendations for dash cam installers in North Essex/South Suffolk? Professional install with cables hidden.

I see Halfords offer this, but wouldn't normally trust them with something like this... RAC offer it for online purchases, but you then have to arrange an appointment once you have the dash cam delivered. I just want to get it all done in one go.

Do it yourself.  I installed three of them in my vehicles.  Takes all of 20 mins.

At the risk of sounding like a fred, do it your self and use a youtube video to show you. Hiding the cables is basically just pulling the headling etc back a touch and tucking the cable in. 20 minutes maybe half an hours work.

I eventually got around to hard wiring my Mobius front camera yesterday, I'll get around to the back camera one day.

We had dashcam hardwired in my wife's car at Halfords and they did a very good job.

No, I want it hard wired behind the dash as I need the socket for other things. I self installed my wife's current one - it looks ok but she's not happy with it and the socket gets in the way. I had mine done by Toyota and it looks so much better.

I'm not going to mess around with wiring on a new car myself - after reading the Volvo owners club forum I'm wondering whether I should be letting anyone else do that either!

Yes, Halfords did full hardwired, not off the socket

Yes, I did mine fully hardwired kit from ebay less than a tenner. No messing about with wiring, just plug into fuse socket.  If halfords can do it, you can do it. Paying someone else is not MSE.

Good luck finding the fuses on a Volvo! I connected mine to the back of the lighter socket, which is easier to get to, all with spade connectors so I just pull it off if no longer required. You just need a 12v to usb thingy from eBay or Amazon.
