Cancellation fees

Can a hair dresser charge me £50 for missing my appoint ment. I know it was my fault so agreed 30 as I had not used any products. I was unaware they had a cancellation policy until she pointed it out. I had not decided what treatment I wanted and told her that when making the appointment.

Most have a sign up stating missing appointment charges.
At the moment, I imagine that they are clamping down and charging on these, as you have cost them, as they can not simply fill your pre booked space due to the regulations. It not like in usual times where they maybe working on 2 customers at once if one is waiting on treatment to be completed & cutting someone else hair.Life in the slow lane1 -
I've a friend who's a mobile hairdresser and she has lost loads over the years from people cancelling or forgetting appointments and didn't have the heart to charge. She now charges for cancelled appointments and rightly so. This is someone's livelihood.0

I understand that but my argument is that the charge was too high. I used no products, water electricity. I had not decided what I wanted. so where did her calculation come from. She started talking about foils and colours. I stated i was reluctant as I had a bad experience getting my hair coloured ruined it When I have scrolled through her face book site it mentions the colour test 48 hour before which I was not offered. I offered 30 pounds. She charged my friend 40 to actually colour her hair. Should I write a blank check! its my livlely hood i am spending.0

Maybe she turned down somebody who would have spent a lot more than 50 to see you. I don't know how much she earns on average. but it could be a fair amount you have been charged.1

The point is that you should have understood what the consequence of cancelling was before doing so.
Anyway, it's all academic since you've come to an arrangement that seems to be acceptable to both parties. That's a good outcome, isn't it?0 -
She has not come to an arrangement its ongoing.0

She has not used or ordered any products in for me. She can still use these at another appointment. And she only charged someone else 40 for the same service she was going to do on me.0

So you've said.
It's clear you're not happy with the responses you're getting, so what answer do you want?0 -
did you cancel or just not turn up?
if you didn’t turn up then the hairdresser lost the money she was expected to make from you. £50 seems fair.1
