Surely the manufacturer should give comprehensive measuring instructions to take allowance of the tolerances they set?Like the "nine feet long" sofa a couple of weeks ago, I wouldn't be buying from a manufacturer who wanted a tolerance on blinds of +/- over an inch. It's ridiculously inaccurate cutting. They state very clearly that you should provide the minimum measurement of width taken from 3 measurements of the recess and not deduct anything yourself as they will deduct 10mm for you.
As far as I am concerned their tolerance in this case should be -10mm / +0mm2 -

I have just tried to buy the same blind. The 'finer details' suggest the blind is 'fully made to measure' and the measuring guide gives no tolerances, of if they did I missed it. I would take this info to Amex and continue with the dispute.0 -
The tolerence in their terms relates to fabric.
The fact the blinds housing doesnt fit the recess to me means its not fit for purpose.
Im astounded they actually think this is an acceptable response.
By that you need to deduct 3cm from your measurement to ensure it fits. They explicitly state not to deduct and they will remove 10mm.
So you could have a blind 4cm shorter than the recess.1 -
hold on. 457mm ordered
450mm delivered
With the brackets I guess these would push you a few mm over and this is the challenge? E.g. the housing fits, but add the brackets and its over?
I suspect B2G will dispute and Amex could cover through good will and you might get to dispose of the blind...if you do...
The pelmet is a simple cut with a handsaw (I have some blinds from them and they made ours longer than the blind as it had option ends which could be fitted) - just trimmed ours to fit.
The one thing I will say is B2G outsource, they are all made from a kit which they just add to as needed - so if the slats work width wise then you can take a bit off the top carcass as its just PVC U tube and you have a snug fitting blind.

I know when I have ordered blinds there have been 2 options: fit in recess: or exact measurement. Id it possible you accidentally forgot to tick the 'recess' option or accidentally ticked the exact size? If not, then I would 100% be expecting the company to replace or trim up the blinds..I don't care about your first world problems; I have enough of my own!1

I would send them the screenshot that I’ve provided from their website stating ‘I did all these things as requested and it doesn’t fit - so if you don’t remedy the situation as previously mentioned I shall be contacting my card issuer and providing them with the above evidence to enable a chargeback, I would hope that you’d see sense and quash this complaint before it escalates further.’1

2mm over the smallest dimension provided (the one they say not to deduct anything from)
Thats a clear instruction. How do you fit an item into a space when its 2mm longer than the space available?
Especially when they state they deduct 10mm to 'ensure the blind fits perfectly'
How does an item 2mm bigger than the supplied maximum length 'fit perfectly'?1 -

This is correct, when I add the brackets the blind is just over the recess size. The top housing is sheet metal, not UPVC so not too easy to cut. And the pelmet could be trimmed, but it’s more the principle of them not wanting to help in any way. Why should I have to hand saw something that was ordered as made to fit?
Let’s hope AMEX come good0 -

I was happy to send the blind back to be modified, or whatever resolution they came up with, but all they want me to do is buy another blind!0 -
