Aren't Bristol City Council trying to sell their energy company. Just because it's council owned won't prevent it from disappearing especially as many councils are having to make even more cut backs after Covid.

RHE is by far the biggest and operates white label arrangments for many other LA's, such as Angelic Energy (Islington), White Rose (Leeds). 10 in total I believe.
If RHE fails, it'll most likely be due to Ofgem withdrawing their licence, rather than NCC deciding to pull the plug.No free lunch, and no free laptop

I moved to white rose from Tonik a couple of years ago and WR call centre was very good when having problems with Tonik, so by that logic RHE is definitely a good choice.macman said:RHE is by far the biggest and operates white label arrangments for many other LA's, such as Angelic Energy (Islington), White Rose (Leeds). 10 in total I believe.

"Not for profit" How many energy companies do make a profit ??????

The council is being very vocal about not receiving enough money from the central goverment to help with Covid - However at the same time they're writing off £24m worth of debt on an energy company which is unable to make a profit.
Anything other than selling off their customer base and closing shop will result in heavy opposition and call into question the integrity of the council, especially after Bristol have opted to sell with the major admitting "Councils shouldn't be involved in running an energy company"
They lowered their prices when every other supplier was raising theirs due to increased wholesale costs. The cheap prices now are all at below cost, meaning they won't even be making a gross profit on these new customers, yet alone a pre-tax profit.
Most companies going bust/getting sold use the same tactic that RBE are currently doing - price low to gain a load of customers paying 1 month up front first, which either keeps your cash flow going a bit, or gives you higher numbers to get a better sale.
If they decide not to sell, I expect their prices to be raised by £200 or so in the next couple of months.

Depends if Utility Warehouse count due to their bundles?bristolleedsfan said:"Not for profit" How many energy companies do make a profit ??????
Other than that, you're basically looking at companies who haven't yet had to pay industry bills (less than a year into supplying) or Non-domestic only suppliers.
Green Energy UK and Good Energy both make a profit, but they're got price cap derogation's to charge a higher rate due to their past and current investments into UK renewables.
