Afraid not- my annual usage is just over 13,500 kWhGerry1 said:bristolleedsfan said:Gas 26.4000p Standing Charge - noting last comment "Gas at 2.0265p per kWh is great for high usage" maybe title thread could be edited to reflect not mega cheap for everyone
Nope ! It's still top of the pops even for average gas usage of 12,000 kWh.

But it's all dependent on what you use as most companies seem to offset the Unit price with the SC or vice versa. EAC x UC + 365 x SC will give you the cost. My current UC is 2.79p/kwh so as it's 1.97p, then say my annual us is 10000kwh, so I save £82, or 22p/day - so my current suppier's SC would need to be under 3.94p to be cheaper, which it's not.PennineAcute said:I must be on a very good tariff at the moment, as their gas works out at £1.28 a month cheaper than what I am currently paying and does not run out until the end of Sept 2021. It's the 26.4p a day SC which is the killer for me.
Currently paying Standing Charge: 12.4 p/day, Unit Rate: 2.83 p/kWh
Prices have gone down over the year, last September I got the cheapest deal, and about 4-5 months ago I could get a cheaper, but the cancellation charge meant it wasn't worth it. Now in my final 56 days, so signed up for this. Not sure how long the first 2000 will take to fill, but thanks to the OP for posting as the MSE check did not show this last weekend when I did a price comparison.2 -
Certainly wouldn't be the cheapest for us with that standing charge but we only used 6500 kWh of gas so are low consumption.1

Same here, that 26.4p/day is the deterrent for me. Presently paying 14.7p/day and my unit rate at only 0.3p/kWh more is no incentive to switch.

That's because it only came back last Tuesday. MSE/CEC is now showing it.nic_c said:Now in my final 56 days, so signed up for this. Not sure how long the first 2000 will take to fill, but thanks to the OP for posting as the MSE check did not show this last weekend when I did a price comparison.1 -
not worth it for the difference to go to separate companies here, £13 a year. And then that'd mean having to go to symbio for electric to save around 60-70 quid a year on electric

..and not as cheap as Zog for gas-only here.........Gettin' There, Wherever There is......
I have a dodgy "i" key, so ignore spelling errors due to "i" issues, ...I blame Apple

I was looking at this deal earlier and it is far cheaper than anything else I have found.
I am looking to switch as my current two year fixed deal ends soon. I have never heard of Robin Hood energy - is it safe or likely to disappear?
There are so many energy companies that I have never heard of before, it is very confusing.
I can't decide whether to fix for one or two years this time, anyone got a crystal ball?
Any recommendations would be appreciated.
Stopped smoking 27/12/2007, but could start again at any time :eek:0 -
They're not exactly profitable

Backed by the council, so won't disappear, you tend to get a few councils doing this, the idea being that they provide affordable energy to those on low incomes. They tend to be basically run as NFP and may post a loss many years. The upside is it's safe and sometimes they do these headline grabbing supercheap deals (White Rose energy did one a few years ago and they are backed by some west yorks councils) which if you can get on is good.melbury said:I was looking at this deal earlier and it is far cheaper than anything else I have found.
