EDIT -Tried it again and its now showing "waiting list" -very strange!!0 -
Is anyone able to assist here please? We are really struggling to get any traction. Would changing ISP help, would BT delivery it faster? We live in modern flats and no one else seems to have this problem.

If you use a provider that accepts an order from you for FTTC when there is no spare port in the VDSL/FTTC cab, it’s not clear how they progress the order , do they effectively take your order and sit on it, (to stop you considering someone else , although you would have the same issue , no port available ) , if that’s the case, how do they keep an eye on availability, and progress your order when the cab has a spare port ( ports individually could become spare as people move in and out of the cab area, or not need VDSL etc ) so by going with a provider that cannot supply VDSL immediately, you are at the mercy of them periodically checking if a port has become available...chances are that most providers would provide exchange based ADSL as an interim solution whilst they wait for Openreach availability, which given the focus on FTTP may take a while , after all, if you have one or two potential ISP customers waiting on a FTTC upgrade that may well cost thousands of ££’s depending on what’s required ( new FTTC cab, or side extension etc ) do OR effectively say , the area can wait until FTTP is available.
In the OP’s case it seems there isn’t an OR capacity problem anyway as the wholesale checker said ‘available’, so the issue may be to do with the choice of provider , perhaps they have insufficient capacity of their own ‘interconnects’ to be able to supply service and that’s why you are waiting, nothing to do with OR.
I cannot see why the OP hasn’t approached other ISP’s , after all, even if it were a company then don’t want to use, if they could take and progress an order it shows that availability in the VDSL/FTTC cab is there, and any order raised to prove that fact can be cancelled if necessary0 -

I've been using the checker daily and it consistently says FTTC is available, it's been like this for nearly a month. I'm reluctant to try another as it may put me back to the end of the queue, unless someone can advise the benefits of trying another ISP?All ISP's that use open reach say broadband is available at my property, but the issue starts when they try to activate it after i have signed up.I rang sky again today who were in contact with open reach who advised there is still a capacity issue (either not enough space on the exchange or not enough room underground where the cables go through)Order is on the "waiters" list with Openreach and has been escalated.ASDL or any other version of broadband will need to go through the exchange, so they can not provide an alternative as it will be the same issue. So basically still the same rubbish they told me last month. I appreciate everyone comments so far. I'm really not sure what to do with this. Does anyone have any other suggestions or questions I should ask Sky?
Many Thanks0 -
Sounds like they haven't got a working spare pair on the cable feeding your property. Some lines may have been condemned locally by OR because they have had too many issues with them in the past. The might mean that they will have to replace the cable -good luck!!0
