I have spent long enough on here to know that you don't buy from DFS and their ilk unless you are the type thta buys a sofa every 5 years. Cheap tat.
Tat but not cheap. The biggest problem is dealing with them when things go wrong. Just read the bad reviews.

That's true.  We bought a three seater leather settee from an independent workshop in Brighton, Scandecor, when we moved into our house in the 1990s.  Bar a few scuffs on the corners and a little fading, it's a dark colour, the settee is as good as new.  With a little light restoration it could be good as new, which is remarkable for something that's been used every day for the past few decades.  It hardly cost anything more than something similar from DFS.
  • I purchased a sofa from DFS just before lockdown, it has now arrived but it is 9cm too large in all directions. This means it is too large to fit in our lounge, it’s meant to be 270cm but actually measures 279cm. I have contacted DFS and they say they have a tolerance of 10% (which means their tolerance would allow it to be up to 297cm instead), I cannot find this stated anywhere on their website or in any T&C’s. If I want to return the sofa I’m being told that it will cost me approx £400 to return it as it within tolerance. They are unable to provide any evidence of this 10% tolerance, can they actually hold me to this?
Ive checked other sofa manufacturers and they all state a tolerance of approx 1% or 3cm.
I have purchased a sofa from DSG before lockdown, same as you, but my sofa is 9cm shorter, I had some feedback from DSF that said: the furniture is within tolerance levels set by trading standards of 10 cm. this is why they cannot exchange or discount. may I know any good news about your sofa, may help me? thanks
