LL attempt to threaten and discredit

If you care that people think you haven’t paid your rent.... you could always pay your rent?Spaceman450 said:
Nobody that I will ever meet or care about knows who I am here it anonymoustheartfullodger said:So may I humbly enquire, can we all take it that you owe landlord significant amount of rent arrears? And you are happy to post yourself about this debt on a public free forum with 10s or probably 100s of thousands of forum members?
Yet seem displeased with your creditor about his mentioning your endebtedness?
Would some people perhaps think you have damaged your character yourself by doing so, please?
I'm not suggesting that is the case, merely raising the question.
Oh well, takes all sorts eh?
the LL is in serious trouble for attempting to use leverage over me by threatening to tell people who I do care what they think of me10 -
So you think taking action against your LL, which could appear in a local newspaper if it's a court that has a newspaper reporter there, will help you?3

I will happily bet 10 of the finest British pounds that the landlord is absolutely fine - obviously it will be simple for you to win that bet, simply post the judgmentSpaceman450 said:

Alternatively to spending money on legal bills, pay your rent, you come over as quite immature , pay your rent and move on with your life.
Clearing the debt is cheaper than trying to clear your name, ultimately you will waste money and still be in debt. Seems absolutely insane and pointless.

If you weren’t so busy thinking what people may think of you when they discover you’re a rent dodger maybe you’d spare a thought for the landlord who throughout Covid 19, the most difficult financial time, would have had to potentially find the money for 2 properties. Pay your rent and no one will have cause to think badly of you, unlike this forum right now.4

He did not need to damage your character. You did it yourself by not paying the rent.Spaceman450 said:Our LL has attempted to threaten, discredit and slander my family by telling friends and family and others that we have large debts rent areas.
We now wish to file a suit for extortion. As debt is a civil matter under the law. Any contact of your LL with any members of your family or friends or work colleges or neighbours or member of your congregation or anyone else may damage your character. No matter how inadvertent it can be grounds for a lawsuit. It’s too late to go back now. He has already done it and it has damaged my characterWe will not respond in anger to our LL but just mention we are arranging a counter suit against his legal team and will be bringing a suit against him.
Don't waste your money on legal action as a court will agree6 -
i think we're all wasting our time here. This feels like another made up situation to give someone bored their 5 minutes of "fame".Jumblebumble said:

im not going to be spending my own money on the legal action as we get legal aid-2 -
You'll want to consider the very first reply in this thread. Criminal charges are brought by law enforcement. For civil, I'm not aware that legal aid covers defamation but I could be wrong.Peter
