rainbow93 said:What is OR FTTC and FTTP please? Which WiFi Provider would be better for gaming! Thank youOR OpenReach the supplier of the cabling etc that BT Sky etc use . Not VMFTTC normal fibre to your local cabinet then the old copper phone wire to the house .FTTP the new OpenReach rollout of optical fiber direct to the house , with much higher speeds .As above for wifi its a component of the broadband distributed from the router .Some routers are better than others .

Picking a provider would be down to personal choice, the first thing you need to confirm is if fibre to the cabinet (FTTC) or even FTTP ( fibre to the premises) is available at a reasonable connection speed, If , for arguments sake FTTC is available at a comparable speed to VM, then if it’s your son thinks a FTTC provider will improve his gaming experience, he may well have a view on which is the ‘best’ ISP to use, forums like this tend to focus on the ‘value’ end of the market, so the recommendations on here are mainly about saving money ( no surprise given the name of the site ) , but the cheapest may not be the best choice for gaming.0

I am with shell for my broadband and phoneline, and when I signed up I found I could not find the terms & conditions on their website to check them out within the 14 day trial period, nor did they send them to me by post or email, I found the broadband service poor, so tried to leave by clicking on the want to leave tab, hey presto, the "Terms % conditions appeared, surely, this is illegal0

Took me 4 seconds to find the T&C

And start your own thread you just confuse things by jumping into one that had no relevance.

I use TalkTalk in the UK, fibre to the corner cabinet in the road then copper phone line to the house. I happily get 60 speed for about £30 including phone line plus free calls.
However I am always surprised at how far The UK is behind Spain. In Spain I am 3Km from the coast, up in the hills, nothing commercial around except a couple of very small shops and cafes. In the box on the road we have 3 companies supplying fibre. Two years ago I signed up with a local company for 60Mbs at 24 Euro a month. Six months ago it went up to 100Mbs and now it has gone to 300Mbs (Down and Up equal). Uprated with no comment and no increase in price. From what I have read, I think in a similar rural position in the UK we might be getting 1Mbs or 3Mbs speed. I can't understand how the UK can lag so far behind.
