Finally managed to get away on holiday, we are in week 1 of a 2 week break. Weather has been lovely. Enjoying the downtime in familiar places with relatives and friends. Close to making my final payment. My next mortgage payment is due to be taken at the end of August but I’m looking at having the funds to clear the last of the balance mid August. To say I’m excited is an understatement and it’s nice that it’s coincided with our holiday.
That will be phase 1 completed and the move to pushing phase 2 forward (FIRE). I will have more breathing space and the numbers weren’t/aren’t as big as the mortgage debt were. Anyway will update when the day comes.6 -

So holiday coming to an end (back to work midweek). Lots of nice memories made. We were fortunate with the weather and made the most of it. Had time to ponder our retirement goals and how and where we would like to reside, it was nice to “talk over” stages at 60 and 65 (all being well health wise). Mortgage wise, I’m looking at the 15th of this month as being my MF date (it could be slightly earlier or a few days later). Plans once MF? I am relatively carefully with money (hence enjoy Martins website and various forums)
Some upgrades for my garden and some upgrades to the living space at home, nothing dramatic just to make areas very comfortable. Anyway once the MF funds hit the L9XSS bank account then I will post the date and comment in the MF thread too. I’d like to think I could drop in from time to time as I will continue to read your diaries and post on some other moneysavingexpert forums that I dip in and out too.4 -
