well done, just noticed you lifted some of your DC pension, it's a great feeling getting the mortgage out your face.

I see your FIRE as well, theres a few of us about, good luck on your journey will follow you
Thankyou......Enjoying this warm sunny Scottish weather. See your Rutger avatar has been replaced however the Sunflowers are lovely. Yes I’m taking a “small tranche” to clear the mortgage, then it’s systems go to reach FIRE in 4 years and 9 months........
aye I dont know why they took my Rutger away, but sunflowers are nice , we are not a kick in the backside off the same time frame

this weather is just fine just now ain't it ? glad I'm not living down south though my thoughts are with them all over the next few days, would be too hot for me

Thankyou@MrsLovely, how are you enjoying being mortgage free?
It's amazing! Has really lowered our outgoings, and now we can do all the extras to our house, plus we're having lots of holidays, nights out, weekend's away!! I've changed jobs (left previous toxic workplace) and working 2 days a week elsewhere and started doing consultancy work too! Income is the same, I'm working less, plus have time to myself. Looking forward to your post to say you are mortgage free too!!

So holiday coming to an end (back to work midweek). Lots of nice memories made. We were fortunate with the weather and made the most of it. Had time to ponder our retirement goals and how and where we would like to reside, it was nice to “talk over” stages at 60 and 65 (all being well health wise). Mortgage wise, I’m looking at the 15th of this month as being my MF date (it could be slightly earlier or a few days later). Plans once MF?  I am relatively carefully with money (hence enjoy Martins website and various forums)
Some upgrades for my garden and some  upgrades to the living space at home, nothing dramatic just to make areas very comfortable. Anyway once the MF funds hit the L9XSS bank account then I will post the date and comment in the MF thread too. I’d like to think I could drop in from time to time as I will continue to read your diaries and post on some other moneysavingexpert forums that I dip in and out too.

Yes that’s the next step, I know some of the MFW community have set up commentary on FIRE and are using SIPPS to get to Mortgage neutral or to support mortgage overpayment (which is essentially what I have or will do shortly) a mix of both overpayments to the Mortgage and growing my SIPP to clear the Mortgage balance.
