I have been trying to reclaim fees from a few pay day companies. Using the resolver tool. 2 paid up happy days. One is now defunct.
Main ones I had was all money shop so pay day Uk etc. After months they have finally sent me a final response but I’m not happy at all so going to write back. There final response decision was -
My Decision:
We handle complaints following rules set out by the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA).
One rule is that a customer must complain within 6 years of the problem. Another rule is that if more than 6 have passed, you must complain within 3 years of knowing you could complain about the problem.
I can see that all of the loans that you are complaining about are more than 6 years old. So for me to consider these loans, I need you to tell me why you didn’t complain about these loans until now.
Now I didn’t even know I could claim back until back end of next year. But is this enough to go back with? What have others done? I don’t understand how a final response to me can be a question! Any help please.
Thanks
You must complain within 6 years of when the event took place, or, if longer than that, within 3 years of realising you could complain.
So i assume you mean last year, in your post, just tell them that.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Debt free wannabe, Credit file and ratings, and Bankruptcy and living with it boards. Hi Everyone
Just thought id share my story
Racking up debt between the years of 2016-2018 Last October i decided to have a go at irresponsible lending claims and got the following responces
118 118 Money- £2000 loan, still had £2,600 to pay off. They accepted fairly quickly and agreed to write off the £2,000 interest so i still have £600 to pay off
Piggybank - 3 Loans of about £500, agreed to write of the interest i paid £210
My Jar - 2 Loans of £800 - Got rejected - sent to Ombudsman, aas the Ombudsman requested my customer files from MyJar, they came back and said, they missed something when previously investigating, came back offering me my interst back - £400
SafetyNet - Used it on and off for the full 2 years, even got to a point were i had to arrange a payment plan to pay it back and i requested my account to be closed, re opened it a few months later during desperate times despite previously having to pay back in installments - worked out it should be about £1,600 in interest - This was my most confident one. Funnily though, they rejected my complaint and it is with the Ombudsman since 4th December
Mr Lender - 3 Loans of about £1,200, agreed iresponsible lending on loan 2 & 3 - refunded £600 - quickest and best customer service
Sunny - Several loans over time, rejected my complaint and currently with the Ombudsman since mid December
Satsuma - Several loans over time, rejected my complaint and currently with the Ombudsman since mid December
WDA- Several repeat loans over time, still have not had a final responce, they came back to me on the last day of the 8th week and said they need another 8 weeks, today is that last day and they have came back again and said they need more time, is that normal?
Several other small loans such as unclebuck, 247moneybox, moneyboat etc, i got rejections for, but due to small amounts of interest, i didnt see the point in persuing any furthar.
A few questions from my complaints
Safetynet credit - Considering the amount of success from others on here, why do you think safetynet possibly rejected my complaint?
Also, it has been with the Ombudsman now for a good few months, what is the usual lead time on these sort of theings, i know safetynet have sent the FO my customer files etc, how long will it take until hte FO contacts me?
WDA- Is this a normal process? 112 days so far since my complaint, is it due to work load? Or are they just ignoring it, hoping i go away? Should i get fed up of waiting and hearing them say they need more time and just go straight to the FO?
Thanks everyone for all the original advice by the way
Me & more importantly my family are now back on track after a really couple of tough years mainly down the infomation provided here.
My partner and i had a baby in 2016, long story short, she had anxiety/depresion & post natal due to alot of benefiting factors, she worked in a highly stressful job etc and couldnt handle it much more so went off long term sick with anxiety & depresion. At this time SSP was obviously not enough to get us through and not wanting to put an extra burden on her, the bill paying fell on me and id didnt want to tell her how much of a struggle it was becoming after 3-4 months of being the sole person bringing the money in i turned to payday loans to try and get my way through it - STUPID, STUPID decision i know. But i jsut didnt want to put any more stress on her.
Anyway, eventually thanks to some "creative" spending, saving, A BIG help form advice on here with regards to refunds and a promotion at work i have managed to get back on track again and my wife has managed to change her job and in the dark times if it wasent for the smile on my little girls face, i wouldnt know what i would of done. I didnt tell anyone, didnt seak any help etc due to mainly pride.
Thanks again for all advice i have read on here!
Answers to my questions if anyone knows would be grewatly appreciated0 -
Good Afternoon people. I hope you are all well?
I’m currently in a DMP with StepChange and all looking well so far, but I’ve read about reclaiming from payday lenders, I have submitted complains via resolver today from the loans that are settled so see what happens,
But could I make a complaint to the companies that are still unsettled and are entered into my DMP? Will they effect the DMP?
Are the lenders likely to say “we’ve helped you out by freezing interest and letting you pay minimum payments and you complain about us so go b***ocks, here your interest back and you’ll receive a default notice through post”
What will happen?0 -
Hi mark, could you tell me how long it took mr lender to process your refund from when you first sent your complaint?
Many thanks0 -

I put in my complaint to WDA in August and like you got the holding emails every 8 weeks. I got their final response a couple of weeks ago and they upheld my complaint and refunded the interest.0 -
Hi
My complaints are with the ombudsman now,I received a large letter in the post from them a couple of weeks ago asking to send them information like bank statements, credit report, list of loans and any correspondence I’ve had with the lender I’m complaining about,I emailed them thru the information they asked for, does anyone know how long this process takes before you hear back from the ombudsman and do they always notify you of the outcome in the post or is it email?
Thanks0 -
Hi mate, i have 3 at the moment in that process, i sent the documents early december and not heard anything back yet.
In this time they have to request your customer documents of the people your complaints are about and then assign the case to someone,
Whenever i have contacted the FO for an update, i have tended to be told i am looking at months rather than weeks
My advice would be on a monthly basis just ring the FO asking for an update and if there is anything you can provide to speed it up0 -

On my feet now for the past 2 years but I have had a total of 9 Mr Lenders and 3 Payday express in the past when struggling, paid Mr Lender in the region of £5000 interests over the 9 loans and payday express £600 I have filed a claim as various rollovers and missed payments I’ve kept all my emails about missed payments and also added about them making telephone calls to my boss at 9am when the payment didn’t go out asking him to get me to call them very embarrassing0

Some info for those who might be out of the loop - I’ve seen them mentioned a few times in the thread, but WageDayAdvance have gone the same way as Wonga - it’s all a bit unknown right now as to where things stand with claim etc.0
