I've put my complaint about paydayuk through to the FO as I filed the complaint in August and not heard anything, The FO have sent me a letter in the post (oddly!) asking for bank statements - however the account I held at the time of the loans was with Barclays and it was back in 2012. Its going to be a right old pain getting the statements as it was all in my maiden name and I don't any of the details. I've heard that sometimes the FO can access the statements if you are able to give the sort, acc no, etc. Has anyone had experience of this?0

I don't agree with some of the other comments. I believe you deserve to be compensated for unfair business practices. Affordability checks are in place to protect the vulnerable, not for companies to ignore for financial gain!0

I launched a claim against Wonga/Payday UK/ plus various others in 2017. I was hooked on payday loans for a while due to taking one out with Wonga, which then led to me being short on payday, Then i took another and another and another. This was around 2011/2012 i took these loans out, and i'd just been issued with a CCJ at the time, so i'm pretty certain they didn't bother credit checking me. Anyway long story short i managed to get over £1,600 back in compensation. Obviously not worth the hassle and money i had to pay back to these companies, but worth doing if you've ever had a payday loan before0

Hi Has anyone had any success on trying to get money back from Payday uk and Quick quid for loans from 2008-2012. I did go into arrears with them and did pay them back. I am trying to get some money back from the affordability complaints. I just wondered if anyone had any success?
Thanks0 -
Hi Woody
What a great story. I am looking to do this on my own without support of another company such as 'Resolve'
However I wanted to ask you how you worked out the amount you are due back from each lender.
I have statements from them all which show the intrest and charges - however I am confused by talk of another 8% that can be claimed??
If you have any examples I would appricate it.
Thanks

Hi All,
I've been checking this thread out for a while as I struggled with Pay Day Loans up until as recently as 2 years' ago. I put my SAR through early November through Debt Hacker & now I'm at the end of the complaints process with my two main targets. (I've pretty much given up the ghost on Wonga & I'm just hoping they resolve the complaint by wiping the current outstanding debt & Clearing the default from my CR, although I don't hold much hope.).
I understand that I have made many daft decisions during my late teens, early twenties and I understand the people saying, "you should pay for the decisions you've made" but frankly if these companies could have gotten an extra quid out of me they would have done so without a shred of mercy so I've absolutely no sympathy for them and would take great pleasure in contributing to their downfall.
My two main targets are Quick Quid & Wageday Advance.
Quick Quid was longer than 6 years' ago so I'm not fancying my chances although the absolute ridiculousness of their decisions to lend to me when I was a student at the time living off the £6000 a year I got in Loans & Grants. Is it worth me pursuing this to the Ombudsman as the loans clearly increased in value?
My most hopeful one however is with Wage Day Advance. The loan history is quite frankly absurd and would seem like a case study in the types of loans that shouldn't be made. It works out to about £2000 paid in interest over the course of 18 months all starting from a £100 loan. Now the complaint was submitted and Today was their last day to respond, however they've come back with an email saying what is essentially, "We're very busy and haven't made a decision on your complaint, you can go to the ombudsman if you want or we'll try and get to you within the next 8 weeks."
What's the best option for me I'm confident I will be offered something from them and I imagine the FOS is quite a long process & I know WDA won't be able to make an offer once it's been escalated to this. However I also don't want to wait another 8 weeks for them to essentially do the same thing again and then start the FOS process 2 months from now!
Any Advice would be much appreciated.0 -
WDA are struggling with number of complaints at present. I put my complaint in in August and have had a few emails just saying sorry that they haven't managed to investigate it yet and that I can go to ombudsman if I want - which I am going to do0
-
Hi, how did you go about doing this? Many thanks0

@Fiona CW
I will likely do the same, I think I'll try calling tomorrow to give them an opportunity to fast track and if I don't see anything from that then I will escalate.0 -
I've sat reading through this thread and I applaud you woody.
I have just started the process through resolver against 15 different payday loan companies.
Early days but fingers crossed.
one lender has sent me a SAR - 22 loans over 18 months!!
I have paid off all of my loans due to a good friend helping me out with an interest free loan.
I still have debts between my credit card and overdraft but all goign well I will use any refunds I get to pay off/reduce those debts.0
