I remember reading your original posts Woody, and reading the replies from the guy was in the trade and scoffed at people trying to get interest back..
Can anyone advise me please - I signed up to Payday Loan Refunds this week after reading about Wonga being in trouble. I then realised that I could do it myself by sending of letters to the companies myself, so wanted to cancel Payday Loan Refunds as it was 2 days into the 14day cooling off period.
They replied this morning saying the have already started contacting companies and ‘you are only allowed to complain once to the lenders’.
Is this correct or are they saying this as they want 30% of my numerous loans from 7 different payday loan companies?
    Any help is appreciated guys..

    Cancel, send the letter yourself.

Hi I made a complaint with wonga back in January and was offered a laughable settlement, so took my complaint to the ombudsman where I’m still waiting for a decision. With the current insolvency situation with wonga, if the ombudsman find in my favour will I still receive my refund? Obviously it’s a worry 😐

Yes you’ve lost any money you would have been awarded by the ombudsman. Trouble is now they can’t pay any award settlements. You are now a creditor of Wonga and will be at the bottom of the pile.

There are so many different opinions not just about the wonga situation but the whole claiming against the payday loan industry... Obviously you no which camp I am in and I will always stand by the actions I took... I had a good job great family and still got in such a deep dark hole with no way out due to such loans.... Trust me it can happen to anyone in any walk of life... Snowball effect.....hence why I have no sympathy for what has happened to wonga just the people who may now not see anything back.... Like I said all them years ago.. If they had done nothing wrong, why would they be paying out vast amounts of compensation It just does not happen for no reason... Thats the bottom line...

    Good Evening All

Just received a final response from Quickquid/Pounds to Pocket saying they are NOT upholding my complaint on the following grounds:

    1. They claim I said I earned £8,000 per month (£96,000 per annum) back in 2014/5 as a basic grade staff nurse - that's more than the Chief Executive or a Consultant would have earned.
    2. They say I've only had x3 loans with them but they have sent me copies of x7 agreements???
    3. They say I wasn't dependent on these loans. However, they all rolled over and I had other payday loans at the same time.

Also I asked them to supply copies of their credit checks undertaken at the time and they have sent x1 copy of an undated Experian report that only really confirms my address and x1 copy of a Call Credit report dated 3 years before any loan application????

    What should I do now

Thanks Sourcrates I’ve done it. I’ve missed the boat with Wonga - obviously- but hopefully some of the others will bear fruit.
Some Payday Loan companies ended up using the PRA Group to get money back. I didn’t have an overdraft account with the Coop Bank at the time, but they were so aggressive at one point PRA took £748 out and Coop paid it then I had to close the bank, as I “had used an overdraft facility I didn’t have”....?!
I can’t wait to see what becomes of this.

There is no harm in trying. If you don't ask, you don't get!!

See the DebtCamel article: How to get a payday loan refund (with template letters)

    Good luck :)

Hi All and many thanks for the thread!

Also good to luck to everyone who's reclaiming or about to reclaim, and well done to all off you who've had success in getting some money back from these loan sharks!

I'll be honest - no idea exactly how many payday loans I've had over the last 4 years, but it must have been more than 70 from 10+ different companies. After reading this here I have now written to all of my lenders, requesting a summary of all my loans and of course will be asking for refunds as I strongly believe that hey haven't even looked at my financial status while lending me the money (at some point I had 10+ loans at the same time, paying off one and taking another straight away ).

Half of the lenders already replied that they'll back to me in 2/3/5/30 days with all the deails. I was also lucky enough to be able to download all my bank statements from 2014 to now. So let's see how it goes...

Just wanted to ask (sorry I've read most of the thread, but couldn't find an answer): what if my lender is lying in what they've lended or what I've paid back? Should I escalate that the the FOS straight away?

And if they reject with the pretext that I have put wrong information? When applying I've always put accurate salary and spending info, but am not entirely sure about the "monthly credit commitment" section, as once again, at some point I didn't even know how much exactly I owe...

Almost debt free now (apart from the few grand I owe my sister, as she was the one who paid most of my loans lol), but getting there and staying strong! My support to everyone who's in the same situation!

    Many thanks and best regards,

    Valentin
