BudgetAir.co.uk, despite the name is actually a Dutch company and part of the Travico Technology Group.

Like many of these cheap selling online companies, processes are automated or self-serve with few humans to interact with customers. Often a struggle to reach a real person at the best of times. Add a global pandemic with thousands  of flights cancelled and millions of people trying to reschedule travel or obtain refunds, the problem of reaching them is magnified. Cheap online price is unfortunately cheap online service.

Air India is right in that you would need to have BudgetAir apply for a refund. To reach BudgetAir you will likely need to use their My Account function from the website, navigate the self-help options and complete a contact form. Then wait. And wait some more.

Any refund from Air India may take time (I don’t think the airline has been that quick and easy to deal with for refunds either). BudgetAir may then also make a deduction on the fare to administer the refund. Might be worth checking the t&c’s so you don’t have a surprise.

I feel lots of patience may be required.

  • I have been waiting for a refund from Budget Air for the last 3 years despite them being fully refunded by American Airlines. I email them on a daily basis as they do not have a customer services telephone number. They have done everything in their power not to refund me by using every excuse in the book. I have now received excuses from 10 different customer service advisers who tell me the issue is being dealt with by either their finance department or special team…this situation is now affecting my mental and emotional health as it seems that they are not listening to me and seems that I have nowhere or no one to turn to for advice…if anyone out there could help, I would be eternally grateful.
