Ludicrous Parking Charge Discussion
[Deleted User]
This thread is to discuss mad car park rules and charges that are simply ludicrous. If it’s happened to you, or you’ve seen/read it in the media then this is where you discuss it!
(I’ve started it as I am interested by ludicrous parking charges)

For example near Stansted Airport there is a McDonald’s and a Starbucks with what appears to be one car park but is actually two car parks where if you walk from one outlet to another you will be fined. Madness!0

I think we see most things anyway. You say you are 13, so were you at Stansted with your parents2

Why? - This Board does has no truck with “fines” no matter if they are legal/legit or implied by the most fevered impersonation of authority.GabiB said:(I’ve started it as I am interested by ludicrous parking fines)
You would need to take this somewhere like Pepipoo, who do deal with legit enforcement but I fear a thread like this would last about as long as an ice cream in a blast furnace!1 -

I like your style GabiB.
Looks like a bit more research is required but don't go away. The Newbies' thread is very good if you want to find out more. The wonderful experienced regulars here are very keen on accuracy & that's not just pedantry - it's vitally important in fighting parking charges.
In my experience 13 year olds learn fast and you could be really useful here.6 -
It is good that you have an interest in the subject, but you need to understand the basics first. Fines and penalties can only be issued by courts, councils, and police.
Unregulated private parking companies can only issue speculative invoices, otherwise referred to on here as invoices or scamvoices.
As advised above, the sticky thread for NEWBIES is the best place to start regarding scamvoices, or pepipoo.com for real fines and penalties.I married my cousin. I had to...I don't have a sister.

Private parking companies do not issue fines, they issue invoices for alleged damages for alleged breach of contracts, but you are under no obligation to pay, even if a judge says you have breached a contract.
You never know how far you can go until you go too far.3 -
I’m so sorry about the fine thing, I do understand they are not fines and are invoices which have little legal weight but I just used the term fines generically, if anyone can suggest a more appropriate title I will be more than happy to correct it.pogofish said:

I know, as per early post I used the term generically which I shouldn’t have done, sorry.D_P_Dance said:Private parking companies do not issue fines, they issue invoices for alleged damages for alleged breach of contracts, but you are under no obligation to pay, even if a judge says you have breached a contract.
