Money Moral Dilemma: I was sent free beer by mistake - should I keep it?

Move this thread to the correct forum.1

Ask yourself this question, if they send you an invoice for both, would you be happy to pay it?
Your answer should be enough to tell you what is the right thing to do.

What dilemma? Tell the company what's happened and say you would be happy to return the item if they would kindly arrange to collect it.1

Call & ask them what to do. They'll probably tell you to keep it. Happened to me once. An iPhone got sent for the previous occupant of my house & IsI for it in error. I called Vodafone three times to try & arrangesarrange toito send back & they just weren't interested. I gave up in the end & flogged it on eBay a few months later.0

Your dilemma is easy to resolve.
Firstly, it is not your fault that you have received a double order.
so phone the beer company and tell them what happened. Secondly, if you like the beer, offer to pay for the extra case. Beer will keep for a while. Saves you ordering another case.
if the beer company want the beer back, then arrange for it to be collected. I suspect the profit margin on a case of beer will not be high enough for them to pay a courier to collect it.
Possibly the company will look on you as a good customer for telling them of the extra delivery and will tell you to keep it free of charge. This is what happened to me when a popular wine company sent a duplicate order by mistake. They kept me as a customer which paid off for them in the long term. And that was for a £68 order.
Most people who still believe in honesty will inform the company of what has happened. If they collect it then you have not lost money. If they give it to you free of charge, fine. If you like the beer, and have to pay for it, then you would probably have bought another case anyway.
As with other posters, what has this dilemma got to do with coronavirus support as mentioned in the introduction? Nothing to do with coronavirus that I can see?1 -
Personally, I would just keep the extra case. Life is busy enough without wasting time phoning/emailing a company to correct a small mistake that wasn't your fault.
However, if you're that bothered, get in touch and invite them to collect it. As others have suggested, they will most likely tell you to keep it anyway.0 -
Drink it. They won't want it back due to corona. Can't resell goods that might have got infected.

You'd want to consume goods that had been in some random persons house and they'd done godknows what to it?SpreadableToast said:
