How else would you pay them?
Will the refunds put you’re credit card in “credit”?0 -
I would guess they paid you when you booked the holiday, and you no longer have their cash available, as you cleared the credit card balance? If you can't survive a few months buying everything on your credit card until the refund has gone, and paying the family back from your current account as funds become available, you may have look at withdrawing cash against your credit card, which is of course an expensive way to get the cash. Can you offer to pay some family member's bills using your credit card instead of paying them directly?

This sounds like a better option if available. From here:
Can I get a credit card refund in cash or transferred to my account?
Yes, you should generally be able to get any refunded credit is transferred to your current account by BACS payment, or sent to you via cheque. You’ll need to contact your credit card provider directly to request the credit is transferred.

Of course, the above assumes the refund puts the credit card into credit. I suspect it wont, and therein lies the issue the OP has.1

Sadly, many, many people have found themselves in this position this year.
Not everyone "PAY IN FULL" their statement each month.2 -
A lot of them will have savings to cover their 0% credit card balance.wiseonesomeofthetime said:Sadly, many, many people have found themselves in this position this year.

I love your optimism however there's plenty of posts on MSE forums to prove that is rarely the case.phillw said:A lot of them will have savings to cover their 0% credit card balance.9 -
I do kinda assume that anyone on MSE is going to follow martins advice.MinuteNoodles said:

Have a look in the DFWB, and Bankruptcy, subforums and you'll see not.5

No, the opposite is mostly true. The CC gets people sucked in and they live month to month paying the minimum.phillw said:

The good intention we all have of paying in full every month soon gets put to the side month after month when this needs repaired, kids need new shoes etc etc, there is always an excuse. The world is drowning in debt and the banks want to keep it that way.
For the OP if the refund puts them in credit they can get it back to their bank account, if it's mostly taken by the balance then the balance gets reduced first before anything else.
A way to cover the cost could be a new card with a balance transfer deal, use the deal to clear the existing card so the old card would be in clear when the refund hits.6
