I say good luck to Del he might have a family too he as to buy pressies for and whatever he can earn by legal ways is good
Plus the links on here are probably being sold for more then the Wii is
Once information goes on a public forum its open to all and if someone is silly enough to pay the money that Del wants more fool tehm, Maybe people should teach the kids that Christams isnt about getting the latest toy then Del wouldnt beable to porfit out of parents and kids always having to have the best and latest things
If you look anything like your passport photo....Your too ill to travel
• He shouldn't do it, he's no better than the people who buy up concert tickets purely to make a profit when they aren't providing any discernable service to the people buying them. They are making money for nothing. Although it's true that people don't HAVE to buy anything off them, it doesn't make it right.

It makes me laugh the people who complain about what Del is doing in this scenario.

Everyone on this site is here to claim money back, find a bargain and generally improve their finances, yet claim the moral high ground when someone else improves their own finances.

If you think buying something cheaper and selling it on dearer is morally bankrupt then I suggest you shouldn't card tart, find loopholes in offers and use vouchers that you plainly wouldn't have been offered without the help of this site.

I'm not saying whether either is right or wrong, but let's not be the pot calling the kettle black eh?

The point isn't that he is making money from his own hard work, it is that he is using information gained from this site for gain at the expense of others (some potentially users of this same site).

This site is all about not being ripped off by huge companies that will rip you off if they can, I can't recall anywhere Martin writing that he aims to fill one user's pocket by ripping off other users?

I can't see anyone on this thread saying that he would be wrong to source his own Wiis to resell.

• Dont think this is wrong at all as a debt free wannabe if i had the cash and the time i would do it. Its more money to pay off debts and buy my own family little extras, everyone does this in form or another hence stupid prices on houses! Lets face it it happens with every new consol release
this is just here to fill space !:A
• I think it's sad that people are willing to spend so much on their brats, err I mean kids for Christmas. I'm glad there are no Wiis left, and I fully agree with JayD. People need to wake up and vent their anger at the huge corporations who screw pretty much everyone all over the world, in pursuit of wealth and to satisfy their shareholders who earn money just because they have money. What about the people in China making these electrical items. They have !!!!!! working conditions (most of the time), are not allowed to unionise and often earn a pittance.

Whilst I don't buy into the hype surrounding Wii (or any other "must have" item) Evillimpet is really barking up the wrong tree - am I getting screwed when I pay less at Tesco than the corner store ? Volume and scale allows "huge corporations" to give YOU what you want - last time I was in Tesco there was a large organic section.

As for the poor Chinese well they have a rapidly rising income level, don't have to worry about the next meal and a regular income - 15 years ago female babies were left by the roadside or were starved / frozen to death in org(see "Death Rooms") due to the One Child law and low incomes. The difference ? Capitalism. Just ask the average factory worker if their life is different to their parents - a pittance to you is a roof over their head and a full belly.

Its not all a bed of roses - they are still very unfree but give it a few years and that will fall away with increasing incomes.

I've got no problem with fairtrade - as long as the quality and price is good compared to other products I don't mind helping dirt-poor people trading their way out of poverty to get there quickly - they aren't dependent on state handouts and are using their wits to survive - all qualities I respect.

Oh and I will be teaching my son about compassion - being a good Samaritan, helping people in distress etc and the ways to do so - paying them to stay poor isn't being compassionate.

So is Del a plonker ? No - after all Woolies, Tesco etc have bought up stock against the rush - do we say they are "plonkers ?" - we wouldn't have any Wiis if it wasn't for them.

Garfield33 : I love ticket touts - you really need to bone up on basic economics - they are selling to time-poor customers (ie you) and charging you the ticket price plus their time (plus a margin) - thats a service in my book. What price your time to queue up for tickets ? Got something better to do ? Well don't complain someone queued up for you. Personally I think you just got up late and missed the rush and want to blame someone other than your own good self !

Good on Del.

I mentioned this on the Wii Play thread, I bought 10 to sell on 6, if I got £10 extra for them meaning I make £60, means the 4 i'm saving for my nieces (2) & nephews (2) will only have cost me £80 for 4 (£20 each) instead of £140 for 4 (£35 each) so there's MY money saving :)

let's not remember MSE isn't the only site that people are discussing Wii availability on either.

ebayers/sellers take their chances no-one really knows if Nintendo have a 500k stock they're about to release next week.

the info is available to EVERYONE, not like a bit of sly insider dealing going on, so if "Del" is able to get them then others can.

also on xmas day if i didn't get my "big" present (be it a SNES, TV, stereo, etc) I wouldn't be p*ssed at my parents cos that's right I wasn't brought up to EXPECT to get everything i asked for, it was a bonus if my parents could get/afford to get something.

people wonder why the UK has so much debt, well perhaps it's the parents instilling the "must have it now" attitude into their kids at such at a young age, "don't worry little Johnny, you will get that definitely", you spoil your kids you pay the price (ebay or not!)
•
I absolutely deplore people like "Del" and I think it shouldn't be allowed, particularly with items like the much sought after Wii.

I am one of those searching for this console and looked on eBay in the beginning. One profiteer had a "Best Offer" button so I offered the going rate (all I can afford anyway!) of £180, for the basic package. I was told that he wanted his "Buy it Now" price of £300 or nothing!

So all-in-all, that knob was willing to say that he would accept a best offer, but wasn't willing to accept it. There are used Wii consoles going for more than they were brand new, on eBay, its disgusting that others are willing to cash in on 1)Christmas and 2) others desperation!<IMG alt=0 src="http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/images/smilies/angry-smiley-030.gif" border=0 smilieid="8">

its not FREE to sell on ebay
at 180...they would have to pay almost £10 in ebay fees and if paying via paypal they would pay almost another £10....so they would lose £20...yeh that would be worth it  .....so why should he lose money? why should shops profit then? i think its a disgrace that nintendo are also profitting out of this too.

so why dont you work for free then?

If you used common sense you would have bought a wii 2 mths ago...i bought my sons's DS lite 2 months ago - at the time my wife said it was a bit early.....but ive been into games consoles since the atari vcs to know that you should not wait until a month before xmas.....

it always happens...the retailers run out of stock...the slow-coaches look for someone to blame.....

they are taking a big gamble you know....some time i bought £2500 worth of mobi phones...thats taking a gamble...but made a decent amount...but i could have ended up with a pile of phones no-one wants

That all depends on whether he has checked the Final Value Fee from ebay, reaching 9% for video games! That is on top of the insertion fee.
So, to all the people who don't agree with what Del is doing, what about ebay?
Particularly the Final Value Fees which have been set for "Toys and Games" for the period October to 31st December! Is that obviously cashing in on Christmas demand or is it just my view?

Merry Christmas

wow this must have gone up recently as it wasnt this high last year...not bothering to sell any wii's this year , sold some last year though

I agree with Krishna. If kids are deprived of certain items because they are
unavailable, they wont die. If they can't wait until they are available it's a bit
sad (but only a bit). Everyone should learn that you can't have everything in life when you want it, a lesson that is not being taught by parents, thus
causing kids to grow up to be greedy and selfish. Now that is more than a bit sad. Good luck Del.

spot on...sometimes the stupid parents are their own stupid enemy...i dont promise my son something i havent got yet...i
